Quakes continue at area west of Arrowcreek in southwest Reno; 12 on Friday and one today

The area near the Arrowcreek neighborhood of southwest Reno had 12 earthquakes on Friday of magnitude one or greater and one so far today.
That marks an increase in swarm activity after there were no quakes of magnitude 1 or greater from Tuesday at 1:50 p.m. to Thursday at 4:07 a.m.
On Friday, only one earthquake was of a magnitude 2 or greater, the 2.4 that happened at 12:35 a.m. The quakes tend to be about 6.5 miles below the earth’s surface.
The Nevada Seismological Laboratory web site shows there now have been about 50 earthquakes of a magnitude 1 or greater since Nov. 26 in that area west of the Arrowcreek neighborhood. The most powerful quake was the magnitude 3.1 at 1:47 a.m. on Nov. 28.
