Hurricanes Going North This Year

Uh, yeah...I happen to live near the coast in New England, which is RIGHT IN THE PATH OF THIS HURRICANE, not to mention some of us don't have the luxury of transportation or "going somewhere else".

So, thanks for your compassion. <_< I'll be sure to remember it when our roof goes airborne and my cat is floating past us on a piece of flotsam....

Hurricane Weakens as It Hits the Coast

KITTY HAWK, N.C. — Hurricane Earl flooded roads and left thousands of people without power along North Carolina’s coastline on Friday morning, but the weakening storm seemed to have passed without inflicting any serious harm as it churned north through the Atlantic.

The storm was still lashing the Outer Banks with heavy rain and gusting winds, but it was downgraded to a Category 2 hurricane from a Category 3 early Friday morning.
