    Earthquake shakes central Oklahoma

10:13 PM CST on Wednesday, December 20, 2006

    Associated Press

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. – A minor earthquake shook parts of central Oklahoma Wednesday night, rattling nerves but causing no damage or injuries.

The quake was centered in the Midwest City area east of Oklahoma City and registered 2.5 on the Richter scale, said Dr. Charles Mankin, director of the Oklahoma Geological Survey.

Oklahoma County has only had six earthquakes centered in the county. One of these was felt widely in Midwest City and Del City on 1974 DEC16. Twenty seven years (and six hours) later, a magnitude 2.2 earthquake was felt in scattered locations in Oklahoma City and Edmond and surrounding area.

I realize these are small, but I think it is interesting that there were two that happened on December 16th (27 years apart) and now one on December 20th (5 years later) in an area where we don't see that many 'quakes.

    Birth pangs increasing?
Mat 16:3 And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

God's prophetic clock is nearing midnight, can you discern the time?

It's later than its ever been!

Well, folks...didn't have time to update. There was a second one that came right after the one I posted about. Nothing major at all, but there have now been only EIGHT recorded EQs in that area and four of them have happened historically in the same week of December.

    'Earthquake swarm' strikes Mid-Del area
    By Eric Bradshaw, staff writer
    Sun E-Edition

Two low-magnitude earthquakes rocked Midwest City and the surrounding area Wednesday night.

According to Jim Lawson of the Oklahoma State Geological Survey, a number of people heard and felt what he referred to as the “earthquake swarm” but no real damage has been reported.

“The first one was at 8:41 p.m. on the 20th. It was not very large in magnitude — 2.6. A thousand people must have heard it. We have over 200 reports on our Web site,” Lawson said. “A second hit around midnight with a magnitude of about 2.7.”

Todd, were you aware of them when they happened?

Nothing happened here in Tulsa..I don't think I heard about the one down South...But when we lived in Stillwater years ago (GO POKES!), we felt several that were strong enough to rattle the windows and shake the light fixtures in the ceiling.
