Default The Philistine 40 year oppression (Judges 13:1)

Philistines oppressed Israel for 40 years. Samson was judge in the days of the Philistines for 20 years (Judges 15:16-20) while the Philistines in the days of Israel's judge Samuel controlled the Ark of the Lord for 20 years.(1 Samuel 7:2-3) The Israelites returned to the Lord and the Ark was abandoned by the Philistines. The Lord made Saul king of Israel in the time when Samuel was judge. The Lord told Samuel to anoint David (1 Samuel 16:13) And when the women said, Saul hath slain his thousands and David his ten thousands-Saul became quite jealous of David. (1 Samuel 18:7) David was already well liked for slaying the Philistine giant Goliath. (1 Samuel 17:51) Saul later contacted the witch of Endor (1 Samuel 28:7-19) and she contacted Samuel's ghost. Saul lost his life against the Philistines for abandoning his commitment to God.

Pharoah Ramses XI came to an end a few years after the Philistines were oppressing Israel. Ramses XI had sent Wenamun to Byblos to reopen Egyptian trade. The mission failed as Wenamun was robbed. There was civil war raging around Thebes. Pharoah Smendes married Ramses XI daughter as civil war still proceded when the Philistines oppressed Israel. Pharoah Neferkare so little is known. Pharoah Psusennes I reigns in Egypt at the time when king Saul reigns over Israel. Psusennes I is quite rich. Archaeologist found his gold death mask and other expensive items in his tomb.

Assyrian king Tiglath-Pilesar I was in power when the Philistines were oppressing Israel. Assyrian king Ashur-Apal-Ekur goes to war against the Aramaens when Saul is king over Israel. These other four Assyrian kings Ashur-Bel-Kala daughter married an Aramaen king, Prince Enlil-Rabi seizes power becoming king when Ashur-Bel-Kala is on his deathbed, Assyrian king Eriba-Adad is another Aramaen puppet and Shamshi-Adad wins several battles against the Aramaens, yet Assyrian king Ashur-Nasir-Pal I is too sickly to war with the Aramaens at the time when David becomes Israel's king. David fought the Aramaen Syrians probably saving Ashur-Nasir-Pal's reign.

God protected the Israelites from their enemies when they obeyed God's commandments as we witness in ancient history.
