U.S. Concerned Israel May Strike Syrian WMD's

U.S. intelligence agencies are closely watching Israel’s military for signs it will conduct strikes on Syria’s stockpiles of chemical weapons, amid concerns the deadly nerve agents could fall under the control of Hezbollah or al Qaeda terrorists, U.S. officials said.

Syria’s arsenal remains vulnerable as the result of the internal conflict currently underway in Syria between government forces and opposition rebels, one official said.

IDF Deputy Chief Maj. Gen. Yair Naveh also said June 11 that Israeli forces must be on alert because Syria’s military has “the largest chemical weapons arsenal in the region, which can reach any spot in Israel.” He expressed worries that the weapons could “fall into the hands of the rebels or the terrorists.”

Bill Gertz does not publish reports like this without due cause for concern. That means we can and should take this report "to the bank" as it reads like a potential real-world set of events which would result in the literal fulfillment of Isaiah 17. Very serious business.

If the Israelis were to actually infiltrate Syria and attack these sites at this point then Assad would almost surely strike TelAviv with scuds. Things might happen so fast then that the world wouldn't be able to process it. I just pray no nukes get used.

I start by admitting I'm no expert here. But chemical and biological weapons in a storage facility are kept in such a way that they are not "live" or "armed" until they are actually fired from a weapon. They do this by keeping critical components of the weapons "unmixed" until the effect is desired. These so called BINARY weapons are mixed together to become effective once they are launched or upon impact on a target. Some contamination might happen in a pre-emptive strike but most residual effects would be limited to the immediate area around the storage facilities.
