Default Will the May 20th "Wedding Ring" Eclipse be pre-fitted for the Bride's finger?

IMPORTANT: Please note that this post is for entertainment purposes only. In no way is this meant to date-set, but rather to point out, in an entertaining way, an EXTREMELY remote possibility of a dramatic event occurring that COULD be a sign from the Lord to His watching Bride that time is almost up!! Will this necessarily be the case? I certainly don't know, but time will shortly tell!! Also please note that I am not saying that we will be raptured on Pentecost 2012 (May 26/27), or any particular date for that matter. Instead, I am saying that, IF we were to receive a sign as outlined below, it COULD be pointing to our departure in the not-too-distant future!!

In other words, is it POSSIBLE, even if remote, that other signs may accompany the rare sunset Wedding Ring Eclipse scheduled to visit the West Coast of the U.S.A. on May 20th? If there is, perhaps the second chapter in Acts will give us some clues on what to POSSIBLY look for!!

Acts 2:19-20: "And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:"

Note: Some feel that these two verses refer to the Second Coming, while others feel that it refers to the Rapture. For the purpose of this post, I have assumed that this MAY provide a rough outline of a possible "shadow" fulfillment for the Rapture (wherein most, but not all, elements are satisfied). Who knows, this prophecy may even end up having a DUAL fulfillment (most, if not all, elements fully satisfied TWICE)!!

Based on the above two verses, let's now make an inventory list of events that MAY occur pointing to the Rapture event PERHAPS being in the not-too-distant future:

    1) “wonders in heaven above”

    2) “signs in the earth beneath”

    3) “blood”

    4) “fire”

    5) “vapour of smoke”

    6) “The sun shall be turned into darkness”

    7) “the moon into blood”

So IF (a BIG if) these things were to occur on May 20th, what exactly would be required to FULLY satisfy all of the above requirements?

How about the effects of a Sunset Annular Eclipse to appear on May 20th on the West Coast of America? After all, this is the ONLY celestial event, needing the Sunset timing, that turns the sun dark and the moon red at the EXACT same time!! Well let’s see: 1) “wonders in heaven above”, 6) “The sun shall be turned into darkness”, 7) “the moon into blood”. While spectacular on its own, items 2), 3), 4), & 5) on this list are missing.

Well, what if we try the effects of a volcanic eruption, perhaps even around the time of the Sunset Annular Eclipse?

Well, let us look at the inventory list again: 1) ”wonders in heaven above”, 2) ”signs in the earth beneath”, 3) “blood”, 4) “fire”, 5) “vapour of smoke”, 6)“The sun shall be turned into darkness”, 7) “the moon into blood”.

Yes, that would definitely do it!! All of these would be satisfied simultaneously!!

You may be asking yourself, "Why a volcanic eruption" in the U.S.A? This is an EXTREMELY rare event (just as a Sunset Wedding Ring Eclipse is). Well, there may be a reason for this being a possibility, a precedent if you will, perhaps set in front of us for our enjoyment as watchers by the Lord Himself, imbedded in our very history for all to see!!

    Allow me to illustrate:

The only significant volcanic eruption that has occurred in mainland U.S.A. over the last 100 years occurred on May 18, 1980 at Mount Saint Helens in Washington State, the West Coast of the U.S.A. (in between Portland & Seattle, but closer to Portland). On the surface, this seems innocent enough. HOWEVER, here are a couple of interesting observations on this:

    - May 18, 1980 was EXACTLY seven days prior to Pentecost 1980, May 25th!! In comparison, May 20, 2012, the day of the highly unusual and rare Sunset Annular Eclipse (aka the “Wedding Ring Eclipse”) is also EXACTLY seven days prior to Pentecost 2012, May 27th!!

    - Notice also that Mount Saint Helens erupted in Washington State, on the West Coast of America. I just find it interesting that the Sunset Annular Eclipse also "just happens" to pass DIRECTLY THROUGH THE WEST COAST!! More specifically, the eclipse runs directly through Mount Shasta in California (last eruption in 1786), with the edges of the eclipse touching Lassen, California to the south (the last eruption on the mainland, other than Mt. St. Helens, in 1917) and Crater Lake, Oregon to the north (the last eruption around 4000 years ago):

    http://geology.com/most-dangerous-volcanoes.shtml

Please note that I fully acknowledge that ALL of the signs listed in the two Bible verses quoted above could easily occur over a few minute span; performed supernaturally by our Great God, PERHAPS not too long before the Rapture event (IF it was even meant to apply to the Rapture in the first place). Indeed, I fully acknowledge this to definitely be a possibility. After all, we have certainly not been directly promised an advance sign for our departure, but rather to even expect it to occur unexpectedly in the blink of an eye. NONETHELESS, COULD we end up getting an indirect warning anyway, PERHAPS just as Noah received a direct Seven Day Warning from God, just before the flood hit, back “as in the days of Noah”?

His Ways are not our ways, after all!! In His mercy, could this be our opportunity to spur on non-watchers to up their testimony to the lost before it is too late? Perhaps it is just this being wishful thinking on my part that this will happen that has, in turn, caused my imagination to work overtime in this post. But PERHAPS NOT??

Regardless, keep looking up, fellow watchers, our time surely draws VERY short!! MARANATHA!!

IMPORTANT FINAL NOTE: I FULLY realize that prophecy centers around Israel, NOT the U.S.A. However, the U.S.A. is the military power that has kept Israel's enemies at bay all of these years. In other words, as in a chess match, one would rarely attack the White King (Israel) before eliminating the White Queen (U.S.A.). In other words, what happens to the U.S.A. has extremely tangible implications for Israel. America being reduced in power is long overdue, or so MANY believe, including me. Especially given America's new status as the country with "the first gay president" in office, we all know that judgement is long overdue (the 50 million aborted American babies would also agree with me on this). Not only that, but Obama's love for all things Islam has even allowed Israel's enemies to be even more boisterous on their calling for Israel's destruction!! These are all EXTREME abominations in the Lord's eyes!

    Not exactly This.

In fact, your Annular Solar Eclipse path calculations are wildly askew by about four hundred miles.

Just thought I'd add a third option (the one I hold to) and that is that these passages which refer to the "GREAT and notable[terrible/dreadful/etc] day of the Lord" are referring to "the second half of the trib," so as I understand it, these "signs" would occur "before" the second half of the trib takes place. There are some interesting "biblical" things I wouldn't mind discussing, about the potential mid-trib dates, but will refrain from that, here (just some things that pertain to when Infant Jesus was likely "presented at the Temple" at 40-days of age, for the "purification law" [see Luke 2:22-23; Lev 12:1-8] and all the rest ["redemption of the firstborn" etc], and how that relates to Rev 12 in the future [mid-]tribulation period...) But anyway, yeah, I tend to believe that where we see the phrase "GREAT and terrible" et al, it is referring to the second half of the trib. And that "signs" are for Israel anyway (1 Cor. 1:22a), esp. during their future trib, leading up to their promised/prophesied earthly Millennial Kingdom (at the Second Coming). That's how I see it.

Thanks for the map, Sean. The one I had was from a distance out and didn't have nearly this great detail. I have changed the post accordingly.

Wish I could see the eclipse, I love watching celestial events. Maybe we'll see bits of it in TX.

Question: if the path of the eclipse is going on a route to the west coast and hitting volcanoes, then I wonder why it isn't routing through the Yellowstone caldera? One would think that if this were a sign, it would be going through the one volcano that hasn't blown in recent memory.

I do not think so at all. And I see no "entertaintment" value in this at all. In fact, this is a very bad assumption to make because the Scripture references are being used in great error. The Acts 2:19-20 and all related Scriptures cannot possibly be in reference to the Harpazo.

Here's the chain of related Scriptures.

Acts 2:19-20 is directly related to Matthew 24:29 and all the other accounts of Jesus' Olivet Discourse.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken
After what tribulation of those days? Obviously, the reference is to the tribulation that occurs during the opening of the first five seals by Jesus Christ as found in Revelation 6:1-11.

Which brings us to the directly related Sixth Seal opened by Jesus Christ as prophesied in Revelation 6:12.

I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood.
There is no question that the Bride of Christ has already been taken in the Harpazo some time previous to what is prophesied in Revelation 6.

Thanks to Sean's excellent fact checking, I thought it would be interesting to point to some facts on Mount Shasta from the following site:

Mount Shasta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    - The origin of the name "Shasta" is vague, perhaps from Russian meaning "white, clean, pure"

    - Mount Shasta was described by the poet Joaquin Miller: "Lonely as God, and white as a winter moon, Mount Shasta starts up sudden and solitary from the heart of the great black forests of Northern California"

    - Theodore Roosevelt said: "I consider the evening twilight on Mt. Shasta one of the grandest sights I have ever witnessed"

    - During the last 10,000 years, Mount Shasta has erupted an average of every 800 years but in the past 4,500 years the volcano has erupted an average of every 600 years. The last significant eruption on Mount Shasta may have occurred about two centuries ago.

    - The United States Geological Survey considers Mount Shasta a dormant volcano, which will erupt again. It is impossible to pinpoint the date of next eruption, but it likely will occur within the next several hundred years.

In other words, the chances of this volcano erupting on any particular day is roughly 1 in 219,000 (600 years x 365 days per year). Roughly equivalent to guessing "heads or tails" correctly approximately 18 times in a row.

Prophecy often has shadow fulfillments - with most elements present, but not exactly. I took great care to outline that this MAY be one of these instances that this COULD occur - HENCE, it is for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY.

Nonetheless, and as per usual, your post was educational and appreciated!!

There is no question that the Bride of Christ has already been taken in the Harpazo some time previous to what is prophesied in Revelation 6.
The way I understand it is that the Matthew 24:29 events and the Revelation 6:12 events are two separate events occurring at different times (Matt 24:29 after the tribulation of those days; Rev 6:12 somewhere in the middle [or just before the middle?], that is, during the tribulation), and that "the moon shall not give her light" is distinctly different from "the moon became as blood" (as are all of the other listed happenings in those passages).

But I do agree with you that neither of these events occurs before the departure of the Church, and thus are not an indication to us as to its timing.

Some people, though, do believe we are already in the middle of the tribulation period. (I am NOT one of those people.)
But I think that believing that way may open some (who know of it) up to the deception which will occur during the tribulation period (for one, thinking that the mid-trib events [when they occur] are actually the end-trib events, and mistakenly thinking that Christ's Kingdom has arrived, when actually it will be the [negative] events which we know will occur at mid-trib). Just some things I've thought about... and have heard... like how some may confuse the Gog-Magog War (which some scholars believe happens around mid-trib, or just before), thinking it it is Armageddon (which occurs at the end), etc, and thus be looking for the wrong things at the wrong times. Indeed the very wrongest of things.

Excellent news. It looks like the Lord will provide good conditions for viewing the Wedding Ring Eclipse!! However, you may wish to avoid dormant volcanoes when doing so :

Annular Eclipse: When and Where to View - weather.com

"As with any eclipse, you would not be able to experience it if there are any clouds obscuring the sky. Right now, it appears the majority of the territory shown above will be in good shape with two possible exceptions.

    - The tail end of a frontal boundary and an upslope flow could bring some thunderstorms and cloud cover to eastern New Mexico and western Texas.

    - Elsewhere, we will watch to see if an approaching frontal system off the Northwest coast brings any clouds to southwest Oregon and northwest California."

I double checked with a couple of reputable sources on what part of the annular eclipse will be seen in North America.

Reference the map I posted earlier. To the south of the path, like in LA and Frisco it will be partially visible, appearing to be a like crescent moon. To the north of the path, as in Anchorage, Vancouver and Seattle it will appear as an upside down lunar eclipse. The folks in Santa Fe, NM and Reno and Carson City, NV will get to see the full eclipse, weather permitting. Those of us east of the Mississippi will probably see nothing at all.

Those are some very ill informed or eschatologically challenged people. They are experiencing the longest 7 years of their lives, that's for sure.

I view Ezekiel 38/39 as a pre-70th Week prophetic event.

No offense This, for the entertainment purposes of talking about the eclipse, volcanoes, and such, is one thing. If you find pleasure in writing or reading such things, then by all means, you are free to do so.

However, it is dangerous to include passages of scripture, out of context (much like Sean and acceptedinthebeloved pointed out) to further embelish such speculations, even with all the disclaimers, including the word may.

Maybe you could write an article stating for fact, what your eschatological views are, if they differ from that of this board. These type of speculations, whether a volcano blows or not during an eclipse, has no bearing whatsoever on the rapture or it's timing. Using scriptures that are clearly tribulation or soon after events, does nothing but muddy the waters of the pre-tribulational, pre-millinnenial, dispensationalst view of eschatology, imho.

You may in fact be sound in your beliefs and I'm not questioning them. Many are not, and you don't know who is going to read this or even include and pass it on as sound biblical fact, not mentioning or even remembering that this was put forth with so many disclaimers.
The internet and book stores are full of such things, sensationalism and fear is popular and sells. We have to be careful to seperate fact from fiction or entertainment, not everyone is able to discern the difference.

Just to put a dampener on things, if it was a sign then surely it would have been a worldly event and not just across america. Otherwise its just another natural thing. Or maybe a sign just for america.
