Glad you brought that up Walter..I lived in Chicago back in the 90's early 2000's,This man came out of no where,what i mean is if people who lived there know what i mean.Since 2007 i been doing some studies on the Islamic endtime prophecy to see what its suppose to be like ,conditions for their prophicies,what the world is suppose to be like,the signs.. Here from the hadith and teachings from almost 19,000 years ago says what the "PROMISED Warrior" Character Feature's are..... According to the teaching's of Islams prophecy, Imam Ali Ibn Abi-Talib (the prophet’s cousin and son-in-law) prophesied that at the End of Times and just before the return of the Mahdi, the Ultimate Saviour, a “tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West.” Commanding “the strongest army on earth,” the new ruler in the West will carry “a clear sign” from the third imam, whose name was Hussein Ibn Ali. The hadith on which Amir Tahiri bases all of this supposed "geopolitical analysis" —specifically that it supposedly predicted that a tall, black man would assume the reins of government in the West and command the world's strongest army in the last days and thus help usher in the Mahdi— is, according to those who read Arabic, false. This hadith (or tradition) does not exist ... not in the Bahar al-Anvar collection in which Tahiri claims it exists ... nor anywhere else in ancient Islamic literature.

The question, though, is not whether it is actually true but whether Iran's Shia mullahs believe it to be true ... or, perhaps more accurately, whether they have convinced a significant percentage of the population of Iran it is true.

This alleged hadith first appeared in either late October or early November of 2008 (around the time of Obama's election, or shortly before) when a pro-Khomeini, pro-Ahmadinejad site in Iran published it with the claim that it was found in a massive (more than 130 volume) Shiite text from the 17th century. In the context of what was happening in Iran in 2008, it seems to me that this "discovered" text is just a piece of Shia propaganda for internal consumption in order to aid the rulers in convincing their populace to go along with their apocalyptic ideas.

So let's not get our knickers in a knot. Obama is not the antichrist nor the mahdi.

As with most of Islam, the Amir Taheri's "Obama and Al-Mahdi" yarn woven around the Bahar al-Anvar hadith is just plain bogus. The alleged Shi'a hadith does not exist. Back on Monday, 10 November 2008, Timothy R. Furnish, Ph.D. in Islamic history and former Arabic linguist with the US 101st Airborne Division, wrote the following on his website (MahdiWatch.org):

Two weeks ago Iran watcher Amir Taheri published an article in which he alleged that there exists a Shi`i hadith stating that "a tall black man will assume the reins of government in the West...commanding the strongest army on Earth" and carrying a "clear sign" from the Third Imam, Husayn and that "Shi`is should have no doubt that he is with us" (B a h r a m e r a d: Obama and Ahmadinejad : By Amir Taheri 10.26.08).

This hadith was said to be contained in the collection Bahar al-Anvar by Mollah Majlisi and date to the 17th c. CE. Taheri spun an entire web of geopolitical analysis around this point, claiming that "the Khomeinist establishment sees Obama's rise as another sign of the West's decline and the triumph of Islam."

Problem is: it's not true. According to my contacts in Iran, including Professor Abolfazl Nurmuhammadpour at the Bright Future Institute--dedicated to teaching the world about the coming of the Mahdi, and the organization which sponsored the Mahdism Conference which I attended this past August in Tehran and Qom--and other ranking clerics at the Dar al-Hadith in Qom, this hadith is NOT authentic.

The article Op-ed says Could Obama be the Messenger of the mahdi?...Before the return,Allah would send the messenger ahead ,sort of the John the baptist of the Imam...I think Ahmadinejad is setting himself as the Mahdi..Lets ask Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei ,hes met with him in 2011 twice...Myself i don't believe in no mahdi..But Islamic endtime prophecy says he will come when their version of gog magog/Armageddon happens,the world would be bathed in blood..
