Frustrated Mint promotes digital-chip currency for penniless future

On the cusp of the post-penny age, the Royal Canadian Mint is preparing to launch a digital alternative to all coinage and small bank notes — dubbed "MintChip" — which it hails as the natural next step in the "evolution of currency."

Don't we already essentially do that with debit cards??? I mean I almost never carry cash anymore. It's too much of a hassle.

The issue is control. When there is no longer an anonymous way to buy and sell, the government will know EVERYTHING about how we live our lives by simply observing where our money goes. Maybe that's a slight exaggeration but not by much. And while I have nothing to hide and very little money to do anything with it is still annoying to see them gain yet one more piece of the freedom I've enjoyed my whole life. That's the flesh talking. Now it's the spirit's turn..... It is so wonderful to see the changes coming in the world that herald our Lord's return! For a system to be in place that restricts buying or selling then the government MUST have that kind of control through some logistical means and a cashless society fits the bill. Those who do not know the Lord are clueless what's coming and will mostly see this change to no cash as a good thing - all except true criminals.
Will a financial collapse speed up this process?
I think it will and I believe that collapse may follow the next outbreak of war in the mideast.

Meanwhile, Pringles has rolled out it's new "Tribulation" chip. It's cooked in 100% FUD, with twice the AC and only half of the common sense of other leading brands of chips. And in each can you have the chance to win a stuffed collectible plush Beast or False Prophet!!!

Act now, supplies are going like it's the end of the world!!!

While I have no doubt that Robert (my husband, BTW) will speak for himself later, we had the issue of FUD come up in conversation yesterday when someone's driving in traffic reflected the instability that stems from a constant state of paranoia. I agree with Robert that certain types of attitude spread online is making the nervousness many people suffer from these days even worse. As Christians, we really should be spreading a message of hope and redemption while there is still an open chance to reconcile with Christ, rather than giving in top panic about issues that will arise during the Tribulation, when we Christians will be in Heaven.

Ephesians 5:18 (New King James Version)

18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

I Come To The Garden Alone Hymn

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
    And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
    None other has ever known.

My apologies Walter; it's humor used for a certain effect. In this case, to point that we can become too focused on the AC and FUD.

I have no doubt that there will be a point in the Tribulation where the AC will force people to use a monetary system based on a cashless unit carried electronically. But the problem I have with all of this is the fact that this does not transpire until Revelation 13; up until that point, scripture does not make any mention of it at all, let alone being mandated. When the Beast rises to full power at the midpoint of the Tribulation, that is when the system is fully implemented.

Now, that it exists but isn't mandated until then is of course not just possible, but also likely. But the problem is that when we focus on that issue or anything else in the Tribulation, we forget that we are living in the here and now. People today have problems right now, have worries and concerns right now, and are facing challenges right now. If it appears that I am unconcerned about the Tribulation, a good majority of the articles I have written are about the coming end times; that includes a 13 chapter study on the Tribulation itself in Revelation. Scripture gives descriptions of the Trib for a reason: so that those in those times will know what to expect.

But what the Lord is NOT trying to do is scare people into salvation with "get saved or else". And I know the verses that many use to support the idea of "fear evangelism":

"And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh." (Jude 1:22-23, NASB, emphasis mine)

Taken out of context, this can taken as "using fear" to save a person. But if we read it in context:

"But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. And have mercy on some, who are doubting; save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh." (Jude 1:17-23, NASB, emphasis mine)

What Jude is telling us here is to have mercy but to keep ourselves from falling into the same sin the person we are trying to reach has fallen into. Paul's writings support this:

"Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. For each one will bear his own load." (Galatians 6:1-5, NASB, emphasis mine)

There is a difference between warning people about what is to come and all-out paranoia, and that is where FUD crosses the line. Fear, Uncertainty and Doom have done more to destroy people than it ever might have done to "scare" them into accepting the Gospel. And if someone does get saved just to avoid hell and the Tribulation, that is called fire insurance. They aren't desiring to serve the Lord and leave their sin, but to avoid punishment and escape the Tribulation.

Yes, God isn't willing that any should perish; scripture speaks this very clearly. But scripture also tells us that the problem is sin, and if someone wants salvation just to avoid the Trib, then the issue of sin has not been dealt with. Christ didn't die on the cross to save us from the Tribulation; as a point of fact, the Tribulation will see a great harvest of souls. And at the risk of sounding heretical (please bear with me on this one folks), Christ didn't even die to save us from hell; hell was originally created for Satan and his angels, not man. Man ended up being destined for hell when he sinned against the Lord.

Christ died to save us from sin.

All of that said, I have seen up close and personally what FUD can do to destroy a person. I used to be what many would call a "conspiracy nut". I was very much into the whole FUD issue and "knew" about the Opus Dei, the Illuminati, the Trilateral Commission, the Jesuits, Bildeburgers, FEMA, the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations), the Rothchilds, Area 51, 9/11 "Truther" conspiracies (basically, that 9/11 was an "inside job", according to the "truthers").

And I lost a friend, literally, to FUD.

I had a friend who was told that "God hated him" and that "he could not be saved" because he was homosexual. So much FUD was thrown at him that he ended up being driven away from any hope and deeper and deeper into a vile, shadowy world. I tried to reach out to him, but by the point I could get in touch with him, he was so far gone he was not even returning phone calls to anyone.

He took his own life in July, 2008. He was 30 years old.

After talking to a trusted friend who knew about conspiracies, what FUD was and how poisonous it really is, I fully realized how devastating it can be, and what fear can do to a person. It destabilizes and doesn't do a thing to save anyone; the more scared people get, the more they are going to panic. Eventually, panic becomes replaced with depression and despair, and people sink into a quagmire from which there is no way out.

This is why we cannot witness with FUD: fear cannot reach a person in the way we think it should. We are bombarding them with things that affect their mind, when the problem is their heart. Scripture says:

"The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds" (Jeremiah 17:9-10, NASB, emphasis mine)

"Peter said to Him, “Explain the parable to us.” Jesus said, “Are you still lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”" (Matthew 15:-15-20, NASB, emphasis mine)

FUD doesn't reach the heart; it affects the mind and clouds a person's judgment, faculties and emotions. It isn't a fear of the Lord, but a fear of the consequences of this world that happens, and the person doesn't even think about the Lord Jesus. Instead, they panic about their own situation and the mindset of doom and despair clouds their thinking utterly. This is why I stand against FUD, and why I use the humor that I do; it's not aimed at belittling anyone or insulting a person. Rather, it's to illustrate through humor the point I'm trying to make.

Robert, that is one of the most passioned and effective arguments against FUD that I have ever seen articulated. Thank you. I think this will explain to a lot of people why it is so dangerous. As you rightly explain, we should be aware of all these things ... but in balance. And that is a very hard line to walk, sometimes. We see it all the time on these boards. Over-reactions and over-statements. News (if you will) without true Christian context. Again, thank you for this post. I pray we all take it to heart.

Without writing a wordy essay... what are you saying is Fud... and why?

Because there is a thing called personal opinion, common belief, or safety in numbers. There is also a thing called deception,,,.. with which who is being deceived?? And concrete evidence.

To signify the drive to a cashless society, I believe this is a relevant step and concrete evidence to NWO

IMO, I believe that Christians will have to face hardship like never before. Things may be bad in America, but that does not represent the rest of the world eg Australia/Canada and New Zealand economy is quite good and theres no immediate Armageddon here.

Id expect extreme hardship in the end times, bringing a huge amount of people to Christ. This will then bring about "get out of jail free card"

Its easy to be insular in our own world these days, but we gotta look at the bigger picture.

In short: worrying about a coming "New World Order"; that isn't going to save one single soul from their sin. And say for example you prove your point to someone? All you have accomplished is to panic them and insure that the only reason they would accept salvation is a "free ride" off this planet. Its' sin they need salvation from, not the NWO or any other government.

Christ didn't throw the Romans out of Jerusalem during His first visit to earth.

As for "the rest of the world", take a visit to persecution.com and see for yourself how "good" it is for Christians around the world. There are people already dying for their faith; i.e. not "having it good".

So if trying to keep a perspective on what the Lord has told us to actually do is being "insular", then you are free to brand me however you will.

No offense to you Robert but since your comment came immediately after my post I think it reasonable to conclude it was aimed at myself.
FUD hardly describes my outlook or tone in my postings here. These are very serious times and we all should strive to acknowledge them but to lift up Christ at the same time. I feel I do a reasonably good job of that. If your post was aimed at me I would have to point out that it was a bit immature and wrongheaded IMO. I have absolutely no doubt about the positive message of the gospel or of the outcome for those who believe. I was merely stating my frustration at our liberties being whittled away bit by bit in the run up to this one world system. As things stand now I think I would receive an ID mark that wasn't permanent. But even if I faced starvation or death from illness I will NOT have anything implanted in my flesh to be used to control me whether an oath of worship were involved or not.
If I misunderstood your intention then I am terribly sorry and ask your forgiveness in advance.

Well anyway .. the micro chip is at the mint... its a huge development , the NWO preparations are happening.

Im sorry but there a numerous examples of hardship and toil in the scripture bringing people closer to God. Scaremongering/ hardship to win a few, seems a heck of allot better than having faith in the NWO not to mention getting too comfortable in modern living.

In reference to a recent article I read from a Christian writer, can't remember where it was, I too agree there is a NWO coming. And THIS NWO WILL LAST FOR A THOUSAND YEARS!! This PROMISE is something I can hold on to and believe in regardless of what the world throws our way. I consider the Lord's words:

Phl 4:8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

There are in fact many things to see and "fear" in this world as we know it. Obviously, one can accurately say, we're falling apart at the seems. Yet, I still consider the words from God's Holy Word:

Jos 24:15 But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD."
