    Default The Singularity.

Recently, I have watching a documentary about Kurzweil and he believes that this idea of a singularity will happen in roughly 40 years. This singularity is supposed to be that we evolve technology so quickly, basically no one can keep up.
What are your thoughts on this? I found it disturbing, seeing how Kurzweil and other atheists think technology is the answer to everything. Though I was quite fascinated to hear even more people come out against it. Anyway, thoughts please

That's okay ... I fell behind technology years ago. (And I was one of the first into computers, way back in 1982, when I was one of the few to have one and be able to actually program it. I was also first in with cell phones back in the same year ... when Cellphones were huge and required a backpack in a shoulder bag.) Yet here I am struggling to keep up with the latest advances of a year ago, totally left behind by the ones of today.

Technology is fine, although I think in many instances people rely on it too much sometimes. The fact that generally people who are generally for this concept are also all over the concept that we are destroying our planet. What destroys plants and animals and pollutes our environment is generally ius from technology. I mean is carbon polluting the environment is so bad, then we really should go back to am agrarian society. And as ar as I know no one wants this. I have no problems with technology myself, it does have its good and bad points though.

As far as tecnology getting the point where people can't keep up, we're kind of there already. As soon as one gets the latest gadget its already pretty much outmoded at that point. I do remember the old cell phones myself, and its absolutely amazing what a person can do with them now. It was about people talking in the past, but now if that's the only thing a person can do with it now, well its not something anyone would want to brag about. And cell phones haven't been out all that long.

I remember my first computerm and after I uprgraded it it only had 720 K of memory. THAT was pretty good, but wasn't anywhere near the top of the line even in the late 80's early 90's. Do remember, knowledge will be increased.

We all really need classes at this point. There used to be things happening that when you got a layman's explanation of its uses you said Ah Hah Neat. Now we say WHAT! It's like geometry class in high school when things went well until you had that week off for the flu and the rest of the semester you were done for.

I have a love-hate relationship with technology. Also had the first personal apple computer and then in the 90's had to be the first to get internet. However, I hate telephones... do not have a cell phone and never have had one. Guess I'm not much of a talker.
As for keeping up with technology? I really have no desire to keep up with it. If its something I can use and really need, I will, if not I don't. I do not believe it should ever interfere in our real life.

Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

What will happen when "Hal" refuses to be shut down?
