    Default Islamic Society of Augusta honors families who made pilgrimage to Mecca

    I wasn't quite sure where to post this, so if its in the wrong board, could a Mod please move it? Anyway, this comes from my local paper. The comments are particularly interesting...

    Islamic Society of Augusta honors families who made pilgrimage to Mecca | The Augusta Chronicle

    A month or two ago, Waranga Wassimi didn’t often wear the head scarf commonly worn by fellow female Muslims.
    That has changed since she returned from the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca undertaken by all Muslims who are able at some point in their lifetime.
    Wassimi and her husband, Nasrat, were one of seven local families to take the journey this year. A reception was held in their honor Friday night at the Islamic Society of Augusta.
    From the Comments:

    I await the hate.
    I wonder if these local muslims went to mecca to get further instructions. bjphysics,can you say with absolute certainty that they didn't? would you bet your and your family's life on it?
    Is this really news? I for one am awfully tired of hearing how wonderful and spiritual Islam is. Fine they like it. Good for them. But do we really have to hear about it. No other religion gets this sort of good press.

    What is not mentioned here is that non-Muslims are not allowed in Mecca. There is an exit especially for infidels when one approaches the city. I think that is bigoted and not at all in keeping what I would consider spiritual or tolerant. Jews or any citizenship can not enter "The Kingdom" of Saudi Arabia, the Vatican City of Islam. That's all I really need to know about the wonders of Islam.
    Psalm 73:28

    28 But as for me, it is good to be near God.
    I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge;
    I will tell of all your deeds.

    From what I have read Islam is a bizarre extension of Jacobite Christianity that dominated the now Muslim areas several centuries after Christ. They co-existed frequently, but the Christians experienced purging every so often. They had a patriarch in Baghdad, and the Muslims got a few ideas from them like prayer postures for instance, and obviously some of the history.
    But guess why the area is no longer predominately Christian????? You guess it! The Muslims purged them all out especially with the help of Mahmud Ghazan (who converted to Islam), I think, as he was a Khan of the Mongol Empire.
    Oh and the Muslims weren't technological advanced while Europe was going to the Middle Ages, it was the Christians of the regions! Read The Lost History of Christianity. It's sad only a few know about such things.
