Question 2 questions for you guys and gals

    Hello,

I have been researching information regarding the food supplies here in the USA and across the world. Many experts believe a food crisis is around the corner, just as many expect the dollar to fall. We see all that is happening today and it seems as if anything is possible. With that here are a few questions I have and am hoping that my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ can help me with. I am really struggling with what the right thing to do is.:

    Question 1.

I feel as though I should be preparing for troubled times with food, water, and yes even ammo. Is this wrong to feel I may need to protect my family with weapons in the event the bottom falls out and the rapture has yet to take place?

Part of me feels that this is very un-christian for lack of a better term.

    Question 2

Are any of you preparing for these things in some way?

I am not doubting my faith or the Lord, I pray He comes very soon. Just want to know what other believers are doing and thinking. Thanking you in advance for your replies.

    bluejay87,

I don't think it's wrong to stock up food or items for times of need; my mom used to stock the pantry and set aside stuff for when times would be lean. What I feel would be wrong is to prepare for the 7 years of Tribulation, seeing as not only won't we be here, but that would say we don't trust the Lord to see to our needs. I'm not saying we shouldn't be prudent, but at the same time, not paranoid either; I would bring it to the Lord and seek his guidance as to what you should set aside.

The question of defending your family: the best answer I can give here is that the Lord expects us to take care of and provide for those we love. While we shouldn't seek to harm others, at the same time, if others are seeking to harm us and there is no alternative then I feel we need to do what is needed. This doesn't mean I want to hurt anyone, but on the contrary, to cause as little pain and suffering as humanly possible.

This is another one to bring to the Lord as well, and ask his guidance and will. If He leads you in another way that contradicts my words here, then you would do best to ignore me and heed the Lord's wise council. These are as best as I can answer, but I am only a man and a flawed one at that.

    A very solid reply Robert!
Consider the words of Omar M. Ahmad, founder of CAIR: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant." ... "The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America , and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."

realistically, if you live in the city its impractical to prepare. Most food won't keep for extended periods, you could try storing 50 cans of beans, its a lot of beans to eat, better also stock up on toilet paper.
If you can see the shock coming a year ahead then maybe stocking up is good.
As for guns, well, abraham probably carried a sword, gideon, david, etc etc, and peter had a sword in the garden when Jesus was arrested. So having a sword is not new, except in your case, in america, its a gun.
Here in australia, i saw a bullet in 1989 i think, and i have handled an air rifle in about 1980 something, i don't have any weapons in the house except the kitchen knife, if something bad is going to happen, well, its going to happen, i pray it won't.
When the presecution starts are you going to deny your faith and save your life?
You really need to decide that this life you are living is only the foretaste of eternity, not the end game.

I agree Glenn. I think Robert has given a good answer. And I think Thallon has, too.

I appreciate the reply. I am not concerned about denying my faith to save my life. I believe I will be taken in the rapture. My concerns are if it gets really tough before that time of tribulation begins, will I disappoint the Lord for protecting my family.

I do not feel paranoid, I am just about as rational as anyone I know but feel the need to be prepared for the worst while praying for the best.

Would any of us know how we would react in a life & death situation? Peter said he would never deny Jesus, but we all know how that turned out. However, this was before Pentecost!! This is a tough question for sure...

It might be wise to have things like dried pinto beans and probably rice on hand in case things get strange just before the Rapture. Right now, the world at large is so unstable that it just makes sense. As to keeping a gun in the home, pray. No one should be defenseless in the event of urban riots, IMO, and with Iran touting their 12th imam, the muslims in various countries that have never been muslim before, such as the US, Europe and Australia, are a serious liability. But again, I say pray before you do anything. If ever there was a time to develop a prayer life and exercise your faith to the best of your ability, now is that time!
    Psalm 73:28

28 But as for me, it is good to be near God.
    I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge;
I will tell of all your deeds.

I have kept an emergency food and water supply for years. Because we are seeing famines happen and what the news is saying about what is happening to food supplies around the world I think it is wise to prepare. Food prices are already going up because of the price of oil. Why not try and save some money and get some extra on hand now? You don't even have to spend a lot of money to do so. For instance, Wally mart has 12 packs of Raman noodle soup for $1.90. That's 12 meals for $2 with tax. Granted if may not be what you are used to but in an emergency it would mean a lot and they keep for years. Don't forget that you will need water and a way to cook it. As someone else mentioned, one thing you definitely don't want to be without, TOILET PAPER!

As for guns, I have them because I hunt. They do double duty to protect me. I don't know that I would need a lot of ammo, I think that would be needed only after the rapture. On a personal note, you will need to decide how you will defend yourself. Are you gonna shoot someone to wound them or kill them?

I don't know if this has any meaning for us but in Genesis 41, God tells Joseph to tell Pharaoh to store up grain for the coming lean years. We know that famine is already happening and will get worse because the Bible says so. Because we do not know when the rapture will happen, I would suggest being prepared for some rough times ahead.

I am currently praying that the rapture happens soon and whoever finds what is left of my food is a soon to be Christian and hopefully a family member. I am writing on the cans Bible verses as well as my own little quotes such as: do not take the mark of the beast and did you give your life to Jesus yet?

I also agree with everyone here. Stockup with drygoods, cleandrinking water, and don't forget
about self defense--guns- bullets.... I think some cash, gold and silver are good to trade.
be concerned abot like 1929 events, banks close and credit cards don't work at all..
Military training teaches to Be Prepared...

These are questions that have been asked before on this forum. I personally have stocked up food, water, first aid supplies, hygene products, as well as extra propane and gasoline. When the ice storm of 07 came through our area we were out of electricity for 7 days. Since we are on a well, we need electricity to pump the water and therefore not only did we not have heat or lights we also did not have water. Because I stocked up, we were fine. In fact, we had the neighbors over at our house since they had not prepared for emergencies. In fact, my daughter has a "to-go" pack in her college dorm, just in case.

Hope these comments help you to decide.

    Pro 6:6-8
    (6) Go to the ant, consider her ways, and be wise.
    (7) Without having any chief, officer, or ruler,
    (8) she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.
