The Rapture Report - "Obama and Biden, Hands Off Jerusalem!"

As many of you know United States Vice President Joe Biden is in the Middle East right now on five day tour to try to restart negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians. It was reported that Biden gave Israel a warm welcome during the initial meeting with Israeli officials. But then came the surprise, Israel announced the approval of 1,600 housing units to be built in Ramat Shlomo. After hearing the news of these new building plans, Vice President Biden changed his tune and condemned the building of these housing units and called them roadblocks to building trust in the soon to be indirect talks with the Palestinians. However, despite Biden's ire and condemnations of the approved building plans, MK Danny Danon rebuked Biden and the Obama administration over their objections. The Israel National News reports:
Further:MK Danny Danon (Likud) visited the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo Wednesday and toured the site where 1,600 housing units are to be built. The construction plans – long planned but newly announced – raised the ire of US Vice President Joe Biden, who is on a visit to Israel. "Construction in Jerusalem is squarely at the heart of the Israeli consensus and is unshakeable,” Danon said. “Our right to build in Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people, does not depend upon the time, or upon the events of a particular day.”
Biden for his part was quoted by another Israel National News report as condemning the news building announcement. Biden was quoted as saying:He stated: "I turn to [United States] President [Barack] Obama and to Vice President [Joe] Biden and say – hands off Jerusalem! Do not interfere in the matter of Jerusalem. The Jewish Nation has a right to this city. [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu said clearly that on the subject of Jerusalem there will be no compromises and no freezes. Your pressure is useless.” "There is no proper timing for building in Jerusalem,” he added. “There is no right day or wrong day for building in Jerusalem. Just as construction is approved on a daily basis in Tel Aviv and Haifa, so are things in Jerusalem.”
The project that caused American ire, part of the hareidi-religious neighborhood of Ramat Shlomo, had been on the table for more than three years. It was submitted for public comment – a 60-day process – on Tuesday. The neighborhood is located in northern Jerusalem, on a hilltop that was never inhabited by Arabs.
The sad part of Biden's remarks is that there is truly no "trust" anywhere in the Middle East peace process between the Israelis and Palestinians so Biden's comments are pretty much moot. The reports coming in from respectable news reporters like Caroline Glick hit the nail on the head when they said that Biden was no true friend of Israel. With Biden's latest flame and condemnation of the Israeli government on the building issue, Biden's true colors are showing. Joe Biden is definitely not a friend of Israel and he is not someone that will look after the best interests of Israel. While Biden made "pretty" with his initial landing in Israel, it didn't take long for his pro-Palestinian views to be exposed. Biden's trip to Israel is seen as another step by the Obama administration to keep Israel at bay politically and relay the Obama's administrations desires that Israel not make any military moves as it relates to the Iranian nuclear program. These points were emphasized in the article:U.S. Vice President Joe Biden flatly condemned a years-old city construction project in Israel's capital late Tuesday, saying it is “undermining the trust” needed to jump-start final status talks with the Palestinian Authority. “I condemn the decision by the government of Israel to advance planning for new housing units in East Jerusalem,” Biden said in a prepared statement. “The substance and timing of the announcement, particularly with the launching of proximity talks, is precisely the kind of step that undermines the trust we need right now and runs counter to the constructive discussions that I've had here in Israel.”
Further, Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin emphasized Israel's continued right to build throughout the capital of Jerusalem while pointing out that Israel and the United States has disagreed on Jerusalem since 1967. The Jerusalem Post reports:Biden's statement was issued at the close of his second day in the region on a visit that was promoted primarily as confidence-building mission meant to emphasize America's support for Israel. “There is no space between us,” Biden told Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during their meeting in Jerusalem on Monday. The prime minister responded by telling journalists following their two-hour meeting that the American vice president was “a real friend to me, and a real friend to Israel and to the Jewish people.” Biden is the latest in a parade of American officials to arrive in Israel in recent weeks on a mission to keep the Netanyahu administration in line with American policy on Iran and talks with the PA.
As we can see from these recent news articles the subject and status of Jerusalem continues to be a "burdensome stone" for all those in the world who concern themselves with it. The Lord promised that he would make Jerusalem a "burdensome stone" during these end times and that all who bothered themselves with it would be "cut to pieces":Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin emphasized Israel's right to build throughout the capital on Wednesday, after the announcement of an east Jerusalem building plan during US Vice President Joe Biden's visit came under heavy criticism. "This is a matter on which Israeli governments and American administrations have held opposing positions since 1967," he told Army Radio. He noted that the US had even opposed the construction of Gilo, Ramat Eshkol, Ramot, Neveh Yaakov, saying that those were all neighborhoods "about which there has been a consensus among Zionist parties, and no government has even considered not building in them."
With tension mounting of the status of Jerusalem, the peace talks all but non-existent, and the world still sitting on their collective hands over Iran things appear to be heading for some sort of climax in the region in the near future. While the terrorists continue to build up their arms caches on the borders and plot against Israel, the God of Israel is well aware of the situation. The Bible says that God neither sleeps nor slumbers and that Israel is the "apple" of his eye. I would imagine that one eye is always on Israel as God watches over his promised land and his chosen people here in these last days. While Vice President Biden can issue all the condemnations he wants over what the Israelis are doing, they would be well off to heed the advice to look after themselves and care about others opinions later. This includes the opinions of Obama and Biden.Zec 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
Let us continue to watch U.S. Vice President's Biden's visit to the region and see if there are any more hints of the Obama administration's plans and positions in the region. I for one will be interested in seeing how Biden spends the rest of this trip and what he says about Israel. Let's keep watching!
Until next time, keep looking up, for your redemption is drawing nigh!
God bless.
