Oh, I wasn't surprised, I expected everything I was handed. But I was livid over the fact that it is very evil for them to make it sound so ridiculous, like God is just sitting up there picking who will go and who won't and that He's just a big 'ole bully. Surely people will be able to see through that nonsense!
If they haven't accepted the Gospel, they won't have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them, and God explicitly states that He will send a great delusion upon them who refuse grace. He hardened Pharaoh in unbelief, and He sent a "lying spirit" that volunteered to speak via the false prophets of Ahab. All sorts of nonsense to choose from these days...isn't it strange that the devil seduces and lies people into believing that God has the attributes of the devil...lying, arbitrary power, no mercy...
Satan's defamation of God before man began in the Garden. First he cast doubt on God's Word ("Yea, has God said ..?"); then he cast maligned God's character and motives ("He knows that in the day you eat of the tree you will become like Him.")
Old Splitfoot has never changed his tactics. After all, they have always worked.

I totally agree that the History channel and A&E are 1. A bunch of crocks and 2. A bunch of liberals. Does anyone remember that show they did about the tomb of the "real" Jesus and said that they know for a fact now that Jesus wasn't resurrected. I quit watching their shows regarding anything Bible related because they are completely wrong about most things and have fallen way off their rockers.
Saw a comment someone, can't remember who, made the comment "I'm tired of all of this",or something like that.
I feel the same sometimes. Yet, I remind myself of the warning in the Bible about a "great falling away" before the end can come. I wonder, just how many Christians will develop this kind of attitude? Lord, you're taking too long and the battle is just not worth it! I'm tired and worn out! The "excuses" go on forever.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not bashing the one who made this statement. I'm sure we ALL feel that way at one time or another. I just have to keep reminding myself, when the day DOES actually come and we're all "caught up" to be with the Lord, we'll see and know in a heart beat, it will have been worth it all!!
In other words, Mike, we need to keep our eyes on Jesus through everything here. That is the sole antidote to discouragement and weariness.
We all need to remember Colossians 3:1-4.

OK, I needed a good excuse for my first post in the new format. Good verses to put to memory. Thanks, Matt.
Col 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
Col 3:3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Col 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
The problem is: what they know for "fact" often changes. Scientists once thought the earth was flat and revolved around the sun. We see how well that myth persisted.
Mankind often bases his "logic" on the shifting sands of this world, and not the solid bedrock of God' truth, the Bible.
As for being weary of this world, it's the evil that we are exposed to every day in this dying planet that drains us, which is why it is so necessary to keep our eyes on Jesus. This world can drain the strongest of people, and only Jesus can keep us refreshed and going when all seems blackest. I know many out there yearn to be by his side; I do as well. But we have a mission to complete, and only when the Lord comes to" bring his troops back to base" will that mission be finished.
