My spiritual walk is a work in progress. Isn't everyone's? I went to a Baptist high school and university. I'm sure it's rubbed off on me by now.
it isn't personal. it IS about adhering to God's word, which we are commanded to do.

    :iagree
    Bob ;)

My journey to Salvation was not finished when I accepted Jesus into my heart. In fact, it was just beginning.

Okay. You don't think I'm adhering. I don't really understand why but I get it and can take it. Let's move on brother.

i'm willing to move on, really, i am. but, scripture tells us to contend for the faith (doctrines), i have to do that. believe me, it's not personal. it's not about me trying to get someone to agree with me. it's about getting people to agree with scripture. listten, i tell everyone - do NOT trust my interpretation of scripture, pray about scripture yourself, read it, and the Holy Spirit will reveal it's true meaning to you. do that, and let's all try to live our lives according to His will. He demands it. He saved us. it's the LEAST we can do for Him

I can do that. No harm in reading the Scriptures more.

Ryan: There are a number of us on this board who have been here for a long time and tend to believe the same way. We've spent a lot of time in scripture and prayer and still do.

That doesn't mean that you're not completely welcome here, because you are.2: Your point of view may be different than some of ours, but it is needed in order for us to look at our beliefs to see if they line up with scripture, and we can probably also be of help to you at times in your walk with God.

    Welcome to the board!!2:

    Thank you.

I like to think differing points of view bring some spice to discussions. Sometimes I play devil's advocate (hehe) but I always state it when I am. :)

While I understand what you are saying here, I agree when it comes to ice cream flavours and movies. But I disagree when it comes to the Word. I don't want differing view points for a spicy discussion. I would want us all seeking to have one mind in Christ. That only comes through prayer and studying the scriptures. And of course, it will never be perfected until we have our glorified bodies. But it's what we, as a forum, continuously seek here even so.

Pistache s RF very much! 2:

:iagree Well, said! For those who like a different kind of spice on their forums, there are other forums out there. We are happy with it the way that RF is right now. As you pointed out, Ryan, in a previous post, we are very conservative here. This is the way that we like it. If you find that we are too conservative, then maybe another forum would be more to your liking.

I think you misunderstood. I never intentionally enter a discussion to disagree with anybody, especially when it's a theological one, which I haven't yet been a part of here. But when it comes to questions of politics or when the Rapture might be (which is all I've taken part in), I don't think a disagreement is wrong.
I don't feel the need to leave simply because I am (strangely enough) more liberal than the majority of you. But if the majority of you would rather see that, then I won't overstay my welcome.

*chuckling to herself* Boy, Ryan, you sure are winning friends and influencing people in pretty much every thread you're participating in. Just my observation...

I didn't realize friends had to agree on everything. I have friends voting for the Green Party for frigs sakes. Me - Conservative. Them - Liberal, Green, etc. Just sayin.

Look.. the title of this thread even says "just a personal opinion". I voted mine. Someone demanded to know why I voted that way. I gave them my explanation.

I was reviewing some old threads and came across this one. In particular, Suzanne's post came in early September 2008. She certainly got the "downhill" right, but the timing of her quote was perfect. Since this post, we have had:

    - Greatest market collapse in history
    - A pro-Muslim president
    - Complete unrest in the Middle East
    - Anti-semitism rapidly escalating
    - Quakes, horrible weather, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, oil spills, pestilence, etc.

I thought that the perfect timing of the post was worth revisiting.
