Talking to dad a short while ago, I learned that it took them 2 hours to go the final 20 miles! The traffic was that awful! Dad said that the problem was that, after that drive, his back was in terrible spasms, and he was exhausted. Their room is on the second floor, with no elevator, and he said that as he entered the room, he collapsed on the floor in exhaustion! Dad said that he prayed, "Lord God, You are going to have to provide someone or some way for us to get the luggage up here -- I can't do it. Please provide for this." He said that he then asked my mother, "Give me twenty dollars." He said that he headed down with the intention of hiring the first guy he could find to carry up all their luggage. Dad said that he saw a guy, and said, "Sir, would you let me hire you to carry up our luggage? I'll give you twenty dollars." Dad said that the man replied, "I'll carry your luggage up. It won't cost you anything." Dad said he told the guy, "I'll pay you for this,' and the man replied, "I don't want your money, sir. I'll be glad to help!" Dad said that the man and his father both carried up all the luggage, and refused any payment! Dad said that he told them that they were both literal answers to prayer -- that the had prayed specifically for God to send someone to help them with their luggage. Dad said, "They both looked at me like I had 'lost it,' but I told them, 'I'm a retired minister, and I believe in prayer!'" If these men do NOT know the Lord, I hope that dad's words have provoked them to thought on the matter! If they do know Him, I hope that that moment a few days ago will draw them closer!
At any rate, I just thought that this was a cool story, and wanted to share it!
Thank You, oh Lord, for Your care and provision!
