To the God Who Saved Us!

This is not new, on RF. It is actually from an old thread I began a few years ago. But when Vicki read it for the first time today it caused her to dissolve in tears. You see, even though I entitled it My Testimony in Verse, it is actually the testimony of ALL who ever turned from darkness to light, from self to Christ. Since we have so many new members, I thought I would share it with them. Not because of any poetic talent I may possess but in testimony to the amazing grace that our Lord bestows on us in love. May all who read it recall their own conversion and treasure even more their personal relationship and commitment to the God of their salvation.

A SHORT TESTIMONY IN VERSE

I thought upon the seep of time, the rush of all my days,
And wondered why I hadn’t stopped to think upon my ways
Until the rod of His great love He placed into my life.
By sadness and affliction, through suffering and strife,
He brought me to the place in which I had to seek His will
Or sink down even lower, and in my sin live still.

I turned in fear and trembling and fell upon my face
Before His throne, repenting, hoping for His grace.
I wailed and wept—bemoaning the blackness of my sin!
He heard me and He touched me and He gave me peace within.
“My child,” He said. “I’ve heard your cry. Your heart is now made pure
By My Son’s blood. You are made new: your destiny's now sure.
If you hold fast to what you’ll learn of Me and of My will
And stand for Me—then through each storm I’ll keep you standing still.
My Word is truth, feed on it deep, and hide it in your heart.
Walk in its light and from the path it lights do not depart.

And as you grow in grace and strength and knowledge gleaned from Me.
Do not allow your heart to swell, but keep humility,
For I’m the Potter and you’re the clay. My thoughts are far too high
For you to grasp and understand and know all reasons why.
But one thing hold tight to your heart—this must be understood:
That all I bring into your life, I purpose for your good.

Know all you have and all you hold is given by my hand
That you might use it for the good of all your fellow man.
To help the poor and orphans, the weak and those in chains
To share with those whose lot is hard, and ease the sufferers' pains.
That's what it means to know Me (that's written in my Word):
So show your faith in actions and do that which you have heard.

My Word can set the captives free and make the blind ones see
Your mission is to share that Word so all may hear of Me.
It’s not your job, nor in your power, to save a single soul
For it is I—and I alone—who makes a sinner whole.
Just preach the good news of My Son to all I send you to,
And you shall be a servant who is profitable and true.

Now walk the course I’ve set for you and turn your eyes no more;
But walk in faith, your gaze fixed firm on my celestial shore.
And when your life is over and when your course is run,
I’ll take you home, I’ll hold you close, and say, “My child, well done.”

Well, I've never read that mattfivefour. It truly is from your converted heart touched by the humility and grace of our Lord and Savior. You are truly a blessing and I pray that all who read this will know whether they are saved or not. And if not I pray they will surrender their life to Jesus Christ today

A great testimony to come back to and read again and again. My second time and very blessed on my return trip.
