Praise A Praying Grandmother and the Grace of God!!!

In Christian Chat tonight, I posted Helen Baylor's song "Hunger for Holiness". It was sung out of her bitter experience in life and her desire never to hurt her Savior again. It is the song of her heart. And it is the song of mine. It brings me to tears each time that I listen to it prayerfully.

But it occurred to me that many of you may never have heard Helen's testimony. It is a testimony of the goodness and the grace of God. And, as you will hear, it is the result of a godly grandmother who NEVER stopped praying for her granddaughter through all the years that little girl grew up and became a drug-drained performer, entangled in the world of big-name entertainment. And God honored those prayers. Today, Helen Baylor sings ONLY to the glory of God.

Helen has recorded her testimony in the song "Helen's Testimony" and in her autobiography: "No Greater Love: The Helen Baylor Story". This summer I heard that they are now making a movie of her story called: "A Praying Grandmother". I can hardly wait to see it. I have enjoyed Helen's ministry in music for many, many years. Her testimony still never fails to bring me to tears.

I thought you would be blessed by hearing her testimony from her own lips. I pray it ministers to all of you who have unsaved loved ones, children and grandchildren. DON'T EVER STOP PRAYING FOR THEM!

What a powerful testimony of God's love and saving grace. He whom the Son sets free is free indeed!

As I read the title of this thread, my mind went immediately to my praying grandmother. My grandmother was a woman of prayer and she spent more time on her knees praying for her husband, children and grandchildren. Never under estimate God's power to save! Save for my grandmother and one aunt, none of us were Christians - born again believers in Christ. While my grandmother was a Christian, my grandfather wanted nothing to do with it or going to church. Nan prayed for 30 years for Grandad...... In 1983 there was an evangelist in town for a week of meetings....At the time Gram, my great grandmother was living with my grandparents and and needed full time care. It was one of the nights through these meetings that two sisters in the Lord came to visit and suggested they could stay with Gram while my grandmother went to the service. Grandad said to Nan out of the blue that he would like to go with her this night to the service. The kindness of these two beautiful ladies had eternal results because that very night my grandfather received Jesus as His Lord and Saviour. My grandfather was the first to be baptized in the new church that was in the process of being built at the time he came into faith at the tender age of 85.............. Yes grandad was 85 years of age when he accepted Christ into his life.......He has since gone to be with His Lord!

The Good Lord willing, Nan will turn 100 next September.

Thank you for your testimony Kathy. It brought tears to my eyes, our God never ceases to amaze me. I would like permission to share your story with my women's Bible study group next week. We are discussing serving God and this is a perfect testament how the seemingly smallest gesture can make such a big difference, an eternal difference in this instance.

Matt I plan on watching the video tomorrow when it won't disturb my sleeping husband. I look forward to it. More than anything on this website I love reading how people came to accept our glorious Father.

    M. M. M , WOW, I can see it all in her countenance and tears just welled up in my heart and eyes when she said "But I had a praying Grandmother"....

Man, that's soooooo powerful! Praise the Lord.

I think of Lindsey Lohan and it just BREAKS MY HEART with her. I just saw her on the news again just yesterday and I'm filled with such grief for her and longing for Jesus to set Her FREE,,,

Man if SHE could only SEE this video

It IS a privilege and honor to come before God's throne of Grace and PRAY. We should LEARN that all that life has for us should be considered a privilege and not an obligation.

Thank you so much for sharing and blessing my heart Adrian

WW!! "The devil; had a trap..." What a keen description of how THAT goes... This should be shared, spread, shown to the young folks who are being seduced by such enticing evil...

WW!! Thats the first time i have ever seen my own story mirrored in the eyes and voice of someone else. First time ever. When Ms Baylor spoke of asking Jesus could she come home, that brought back some memories... It was exactly like that for me...

    WW!! That was just amazing!!!

Thank you, Matt... How did you know I needed that?

Fair enough... I did rather suspect, but wasn't sure.

That is just amazing! I've been asking God recently if He'll ever save someone at school that I've been praying for since I started college. And thank you for posting this. I needed to hear that tonight.
