Another Newmember

Greetings: Have been a lurker for a long time, joined some time ago, and have made a very few posts since.

Was a major sinner for the first 55 years of my life. {I know, we all think we were really bad -and we were!} Then about 2 years ago, out of the clear blue, the lord called me. I didn't know a lot at that time, but I did know that if Jesus is knocking at your door, you should answer! He helped me find a Church, and do the hard part of walking out of that old life of sin. It wasn't easy, not even possible without his help.

Thoroughly enjoy reading all the posts and info here. Especially interested in Prophecy, since the Church I attend is "very afraid" to teach or discuss it. It's my only complaint about the Church I attend, and I understand a lot of Churches are this way.

Being a Newcomer to the Christian life, I'm somewhat intimidated by the insight in the posts of many of you veterans. So it'll probably be awhile before I post anything other than an occasional agreement. Have learned of David Gusik's Bible study, from posts in this site, and am currently in the process of a slow and thorough Bible Study.

Anyway, I expect to be around for a long time. So I'll look forward to learning from some of you more experienced ones, and growing in the Lord with some of you beginners like me.

Wanted to say Thank You to the Staff, and Chris, Mattfivefour, Sean Osborne, Mike D, and all the regular posters here for all the help I've received just reading your posts, and seeing your dedication. -Thanks!

God bless you, Phillip. And welcome. We are happy to have you among us. Don't be intimidated by those who have had more time in Christ and His Word. None of us has anything of which to boast. None of us has a single thing of his or her own self. 1 Corinthians 4:7 Each of us has received whatever spiritual knowledge we may have. It is not of our own intellect or wisdom. God forbid we should have anything whereof to boast!

Further, each and EVERY member of Christ's Body has been given at least one gift with which to help the others (1 Corinthians 7:7b; 1 Corinthians 12 all). The receipt of the gifts is according to God's will (1 Corinthians 12:11) , not to the length of time one has served Him. So when God lays some word or some act on your heart, do not hesitate to share it with whomever He points you to. That is how we all build one another up in the faith.

(BTW, learning to "hear" God's voice is usually a process not a sudden revelation. His is a small, still "voice" and is unmistakable, once you have heard it. And nothing He ever will tell you will vary one tiny iota from His written Word. That Word is his full revelation of Himself to man in this dispensation and is intended to not only reveal Himself and His will but to keep us from being deceived and drawn into error. That is why Satan strives so hard to cause man to question God's Word, to pull man away from it. )

I'm reminded of what you also said about being a veteran,, Just remember one thing dear brother, we all have the SAME Holy Spirit living in our hearts and God can use YOU just as much if not more than anyone cause we are all equal at the cross
