    If you're in pain, Ibuprofen is usually the best thing provided you're not allergic. You really need to get to a Gynecologist, and get a check before you try anything else. If you don't have insurance, call around the local charity clinics and beg for mercy. These things can and do act all kinds of weird for no good reason that anyone knows of, so please don't panic, your symptoms sound like a normal range of variation, but it is very important to get checked anyway. If the check is perfectly normal, and the doctor says you're normal, ask if you should be taking a vitamin supplement and see what they say. The only fun part of getting old, IMO is menopause. Yes Lord, bring it on!!!
    Psalm 73:28

    28 But as for me, it is good to be near God.
    I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge;
    I will tell of all your deeds.

    I agree....you gotta get checked! Most often it's just part of the gig; but there are other possibilities that you may want to rule out as well. My poor daughter's have suffered; but their doc's just give them high dosages of Ibuprofen.

    Not sure how old you are Carol-Ann; if you are past childbearing years there is a fairly simple procedure that IS AWESOME!!! Sure changed my life without having to have major surgery. I think every woman out there should know about it. Best thing..no more periods AND you don't lose any of your internal organs. (No meds either!)
    Howdy ya'll!

    I had painful periods for many years before they finally did a laparoscopy to see if I had endometriosis. Then they told me they couldn't do anything until I got really bad and had to have a hysterectomy. I spent years in absolute agony as over the counter medications did little. I then got prescription medication that pretty well would knock out an Elephant and you had to spend the day at home asleep if you took one because you couldn't function or go anywhere.

    Finally I rechecked what can be done about this condition and surprise I found a simple horomone tablet was able to fix my problem. Doesn't work with all women who have my condition but I was one that did respond to progesterone. I now don't get my periods at all with these hormones and I don't get any symptoms either. It took about six months for them to kick in before my periods finally stopped. Some continue to have their periods I was just fortunate for me they stopped them altogether. Plus I am at the right age to be menopausal anyway.

    You need to get yourself tested there are a number of known conditions like mine that have medication that really work well. I would have loved to have known this existed years ago. I certainly don't miss all the bloating, cramping and discomfort and pain.

    One thing I have learned over the years is that not ever Gynecologist specialises in problems with menstration. Make sure the one you go to is a surgeon they are more likely to have expertise in endometriosis and other conditions like that because they often require surgery. Acutally ask what area of expertise the Gynecologist has before you make the appointment. You want to go to the right person so you are not wasting your time as I did for years, they just prescribed strong painkillers and kept telling me I wasn't old enough or seriously sick enough for a hysterectomy as yet. Finally I had enough did some research on the internet which pointed me to the treatment now available for my condition and found a doctor who had insight into the new treatment.

    I have endometriosis. I was dx at age 21 by surgery. I have had 3 laparoscopies and other treatment. It always comes back. I am now 44 and my cycles are like clockwork, but much inflammation in my body. I take Aleve and other things like ibuprofen. I have 3 sons, surprisingly and didnt start having children until 33. I had trouble conceiving except when I thought I was done. God works in mysterious ways. I will look forward to menopause, I think.

    There are a few things that can cause your symptoms so you should follow the advice given and get checked out. I had a procedure called an ablation (Novasure) last year because I had such heavy menstruation that I was anemic. Now I do not have to deal with it at all anymore. I didn't have to have a hysterectomy either, so I still have my uterus and ovaries, which means I do not have to take hormone supplements. There are so many wonderful things doctors can do now, so please go see one. I pray you are feeling better, I know how miserable it is to go through what you are dealing with right now.
