Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is considering polygraph tests for all participants at Tuesday's security cabinet meeting to find the source of a leak that he said was making holding sensitive discussions impossible. Channel 2 reported that Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) head Yoram Cohen met with Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein Wednesday to discuss the matter.

In an unprecedented and dramatic move, Netanyahu adjourned – shortly after it began -- the second part of a security cabinet meeting that started Tuesday and dealt with Iran and the Israel intelligence community's annual assessment. Netanyahu, according to a statement issued by his office, said at the outset of the meeting that "something grave happened shortly after the conclusion of the meeting yesterday: leaks from the security cabinet meeting."

Netanyahu May Order Shin Bet to Find Leaker
Channel 2 says the leak was stopped in time by censor. Shin Bet chief meets Attorney General

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu may order a Shin Bet investigation of leaks from the Diplomacy-Security Cabinet session on the Iran situation Tuesday, according to Channel 2 television. The investigation may include polygraph tests to be administered to all 19 ministers who are members of the cabinet, as well as the security officials who took part in the session. Channel 2 also reported that Shin Bet head Yoram Cohen met Wednesday with the Attorney General and Legal Advisor to the Government, Yehuda Weinstein, and that they probably met to discuss a possible investigation of the leak.

According to Channel 2, the Prime Minister's ire was not aroused by leaks that found their way to the press, some of which were not true, but by a leak that was submitted to the military censor and blocked for publication. Netayahu's tough stand regarding the leaks is receiving support from the top military brass and from senior ministers including Eli Yishai (Shas) and Avigdor Lieberman (Yisrael Beytenu).

Bibi's government has no room for "leakers" at this time. That could prove very serious for the discussions going on.
