Report: Blasts rock army bases in Syria's Aleppo, civilians killed
At least 25 killed in blast Syrian TV says targets installations country's second largest city; activists report resumed activity by Assad's army near rebel city of Homs.

Twin explosions rocked security installations in the Syria city of Aleppo, Syrian TV reported on Friday, with reports of at least 25 dead on the scene, with 175 wounded. Follow Haaretz.com's official Facebook page for updates on developments in Syria and the Middle East. The so-called "terrorist explosions" shook Aleppo, Syria's second largest city, only a day after the city's first wave of anti-government demonstrations was reported. Opposition officials claimed the Syrian regime orchestrated the attack in order to damage the image of anti-Assad forces. State television showed blood, bodies and shattered concrete strewn across a street outside one of the apparent targets of the blasts, a military security building in the northern city.

Twenty-five people were killed and 175 people were wounded in two blasts targeting security bases in Syria's northern city of Aleppo on Friday. Earlier it was reported the exposions had killed 11 people — soldiers and civilians. Some children were also reported killed in the attack. "Civilians and members of the military were martyred and wounded in the terrorist explosions that targeted Aleppo," Syrian state television reported, adding the attacks targeted a branch of military intelligence and a security force base. The north has been a hot zone for several months as insurgents from the Syrian Free Army, which has staged numerous deadly attacks on government forces, battle with the regime.
