    Mitchell: US peace push misinterpreted
    By JPOST.COM STAFF

US Mideast envoy George Mitchell believes people are misinterpreting the Obama administration's pressure on Israel as well as the Arab response to Washington's regional peace push. "One of the public misimpressions is that it's all been about settlements," Mitchell told the New York Times in an interview published Sunday. "It is completely inaccurate to portray this as, 'We're only asking the Israelis to do things.' We are asking everybody to do things."

Despite Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal's recent rejection of American calls for gestures toward Israel, Mitchell said that Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, had not actually rebuffed US President Barack Obama's request. "We've gotten, over all, a very good response, a desire to act, some public statements to that effect from the crown prince of Bahrain, the president of Egypt," said Mitchell.

Obama to launch PR campaign to sway Israelis, Arabs on peace
    By Barak Ravid, Haaretz Correspondent

In light of the difficulties it has encountered in advancing the diplomatic process in the Middle East, the Obama administration plans on launching a public relations blitz in Israel and the Arab states. The New York Times reported on Monday that President Barack Obama plans to grant a number of interviews to Israeli and Arab television stations as part of his campaign to sway public opinion in the region in favor of his vision for peace.

Obama's special envoy to the region, George Mitchell, told the newspaper that a misconception has taken hold according to which the U.S. is leaning solely on Israel to halt construction in West Bank settlements. "It is completely inaccurate to portray this as, 'We're only asking the Israelis to do things'," Mitchell told the Times. "We are asking everybody to do things." Mitchell granted a rare interview to the Times at a time in which the administration has come under criticism for its perceived policy of only making demands of Israel.

I think that mitchell & obama are just trying to save face. they tried to force Israel's hand on the settlement issue, and it didn't work. From there, it would have progressed to Israel giving up the Eastern half of Jerusalem, and on it goes. obama's administration is now in a bind, they can't deliver, so who knows what they'll come up with next.

Look for some back door way to punish Israel for not cooperating in their own destruction, probably through some back-door economic or military type assistance programs. I think there already was a post that quoted some Obamaite nerd as saying that withholding some military funding assistance from Israel might help the U.S. economy (what a bunch of crap!). These Hussein clowns will try anything and everything underhanded to try and force Israel into submission. It won't work though as God will provide for Israel, some way.

There was an article that said that Israel was looking to buy South Korean jets, which would be the first time they had gone outside of the Israel/US connection on jets or something like that. Israel might have to start looking for their defense items somewhere else if HO decides to try to punish them through holding back aid, military equipment, etc.

Liberals never get "it". Liberalism effects your brain and your touch with reality.
