Default "Russia Will come down to Take a Great Spoil"

GOLDA MEIR, the former prime minister of Israel, used to tell a joke about how Moses must have made a wrong turn in the desert: “He dragged us 40 years through the desert to bring us to the one place in the Middle East where there was no oil.’ ”

As it turns out, Moses may have had it right all along. In the last couple of years, vast amounts of natural gas have been found deep under Israel’s Mediterranean waters, and studies have begun to test the feasibility of extracting synthetic oil from a large kerogen-rich rock field southwest of Jerusalem.

Yeah, but everyone forgets that Israel has riches other than oil: state-of-the-art medical advances, irrigation capabilities, agricultural advances, water desalinization technology, advanced weaponry and scientific research, to name a few.

In any event, scripture says it is God who will turn Gog-Magog to Israel:

"And the word of the LORD came to me saying, “Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal. I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords; Persia, Ethiopia and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; 6Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you." (Ezekiel 38:1-6, NASB, emphasis mine)

The Lord will decide when it is time for Gog-Magog to invade Israel; until then, we can speculate all we want, but it doesn't mean that it will happen. And speculation never saved a single soul anyways.
