War tensions between Turkey, NATO and Syria shot up again Tuesday, Oct. 4, with the announcement from Ankara that Turkey embarks Wednesday on a 10-day "mobilization" exercise in the southern province of Hatay along the Syrian border, through which arms are being funneled to Syrian protesters. Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan is expected on the same day to visit the 7,000 Syrians who have taken refuge in Hatay from President Bashar

Our military sources note that the Turkish exercise was announced the day after US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta held talks with Israeli leaders, during which he emphasized the importance of restoring ties with Turkey for deterring Syrian, Iranian and Hizballah menaces.
And a week ago, on Sept. 27, NATO's European commander Gen. James Staviris visited Ankara. Both visits were apparently part of the build-up for the Turkish exercise, which will involve the 39th mechanized infantry brigade and 730 reserve soldiers. Its target: the mobilization of reserves and their rapid transfer to the Syrian border.

Looks like we have an update to the same threats which were issued by Syria several months, if not a year ago. This is a real-world scenario which just screams Isaiah 17, and based upon that prophetic text would be an extremely powerful witnessing tool.

Today on FOX News they Had Bill Gertz and John Bolton.They said the middle east is the most dangerous in 40 years !..

Not really. Their ilk have done this before. Remember the first Gulf War? Iraq started lobbing Scuds, for no reason, at Israel.

The fate of Damascus comes to mind as well.

Transfer hundreds of rockets?? What?? They have the range of bottle rockets or something? All you'll need is about an hour to take them out with air assets if you have to move them around.

Syrian President Bashar Assad on Tuesday threatened to set fire to the Middle East, and especially Israel, if NATO attacks Syria, the Iranian Fars news agency reported.

In a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Assad said: "If a crazy measure is taken against Damascus, I will need not more than six hours to transfer hundreds of rockets and missiles to the Golan Heights to fire them at Tel Aviv."



Davutoglu reportedly conveyed a message of warning from the US to Assad. The Iranian report has not been verified by other sources.


According to the Fars news agency, the Syrian president stressed that Damascus will also call on Hezbollah in Lebanon to launch a fierce rocket and missile attack on Israel, such that Israeli intelligence could never imagine.


"All these events will happen in three hours, but in the second three hours, Iran will attack the US warships in the Persian Gulf and the US and European interests will be targeted simultaneously," Assad said.

France ,Germany and Italy are warning Iran of War if they dont give up their nukes !! America sent Israel bunker busting bombs.

Ive not been able to put the book of Isaiah down for going on 3 weeks or longer

this could go into war and quick
the Holy spirit also continues to speak of the destruction of the northern parts of Israel as part of it all that happens toward the others reduced to nothing. I can't get away from that somehow it is a strong grip that keeps lunging out every time I read it

Russia's one aircraft carrier is pretty much a garbage scowl from what I understand...and China really has no combat ready carrier. They must be sending missile cruisers or destroyers down that way.

Yes, a frigate about the size of our Oliver Hazard Perry class (of which we have about 50 afloat) but a lot less capable. The Chicoms have a handful of lightweight destroyers to which we have approximately 70 Arleigh Burke and Spruance class destroyers of twice the Chicoms displacement, and addition to the new DD-X class that is building. We also have at least 25 Ticonderoga-class vertical launch cruisers, and the building CG-X class cruisers, the likes of which the Chicoms do not have. On top of this we have 10 Nimitz-class carriers and two building CVN-X class carriers. In the face of this kind of naval sea power there is no need to even mention the numerous amphibious warfare and littoral combatants we have that can carry brigades of Marines to the fight anywhere in the world.

Yes, I also miss the battleships. Nothing like getting the enemy's full and undivided attention by hurling Volkswagen-sized projectiles onto his territory from well over the horizon. Speak softly but carry a big stick was the rule and should be again.

Nothing says "Howdy" like a 16 inch gun going off! I thought I read somewhere we're retiring the "Big E" (USS Enterprise) and replacing it with a new Gerald Ford class carrier. I really hate that--I know it's not the same flat top, but what a battle tradition the Big E has!

I really loved the idea they used to name the BBs after states . I guess that's just for ballistic subs now. (Cruisers named after cities, DDs after guys in the old days) I'm too much of a "traditionalist" I guess.

I thought I read somewhere we're retiring the "Big E" (USS Enterprise) and replacing it with a new Gerald Ford class carrier.

Yes, the USS Gerald Ford (CVN-78) is the first of the new CVN-X class of supercarriers that is building. CVN-78 is half completed, should be launched in 2013 and commissioned in 2015 for active duty.

Notice how far astern the "island" is. What a beauty!
