Russia has right to 'preventative' nuclear strike: general
    MOSCOW, Jan 19 (AFP) Jan 19, 2008
Russian army chief Yury Baluevsky on Saturday asserted that the country had the right to use nuclear weapons on a "preventative" basis, news agencies reported.

"We are not planning to attack anyone. But our partners should clearly understand... that the armed forces will be used if necessary to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Russian Federation and its allies, including on a preventative basis, including with the use of nuclear weapons," Baluevsky was quoted as saying by the RIA Novosti news agency.

    Pretty well covers any eventuality.

The message here is pretty much “If you come marching into Iran destroying our Russian engineered nuclear power plants, we have options.”

Another reason why Russia might be arming Iran and causing the eventual Gog Magog war in the Middle East is over oil shipments through the Bosphorus Strait. Turkey is really the only ally Israel has in this part of the world and they straddle the Bosphorus Strait which is the passage way between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Since this strait is a control point for Turkey and an obstacle for Russia to their only warm water port, this might very well be the underlying cause of this whole thing. Russia wants control for their oil exports and whole lot of money and they don't care who gets hurt in the process. Of course, this is all preordained by the God of Abraham.

Russia could use nuclear arms pre-emptively: general

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's armed forces chief said on Saturday Moscow could use nuclear arms pre-emptively if under serious threat, his comments marking no change in defense policy but underlining a renewed military confidence.

Interfax news agency quoted Chief of Staff Yuri Baluyevski as saying also that Russia, rebuilding defenses under President Vladimir Putin after the decline of the immediate post-Soviet years, must guard against "excessive militarization" of society.

He said Russia was not going to attack anyone.

"But we believe all our partners in the international community should understand clearly and have no doubts that in order to protect its and its allies' sovereignty and territorial integrity, Russia will use its armed forces, including nuclear weapons, and it can do it pre-emptively," he told a scientific conference in Moscow.

In Soviet times, military doctrine stated Moscow would not use nuclear arms first in any confrontation with the West. With the decline of its conventional forces in the 1990s, Moscow dropped this element of its policy.

This creeped me out when I read it yesterday, but today I remember, I don't need to fear. God is in control.
