Not a boy, but I ride an '04 Harley Dyna Superglide. I started out with a new Sportster Sport in 2000 and then in '04 moved up to a new Dyna Superglide. I noticed your avatar has a Ducati. I almost bought one of those. I sure liked them. But my husband at the time was hard-core Harley and wouldn't let me buy it. I love motorcycles.

I no longer ride motorcycles, but I rode motorcycles from when I was 16 until about 9 months ago, and I'll be 63 next month. When you first joined RF with that screen name I assumed this type of thread would pop up. Over the years I've had 2 Hondas, a Honda 50 when I was 16 and a Goldwing 1200 later in life. In between, I primarily rode Suzuki. An X-6, which was a 250cc, the 500cc Titan, and a 750cc water cooled. Also, a BMW, and my last bike was a Kawasaki Concours. By far my favorite was the Concours as it was comfortable enough to ride all day and had plenty of power. I believed bikes were meant to be ridden (a lot!), and the Concours and I logged over 12,000 miles a year for 6 years, and I even earned an http://www.ironbutt.com license plate backer once!

I was working in a copper mine last year driving one of those 2-story trucks when my 62 year old back cried, "Enough!" I am now permanently disabled and haven't really entertained thoughts about another bike. But if I did, it would be a -------------!

I Come To The Garden Alone Hymn

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
    And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
    None other has ever known.

I have to say I'm a bit over zealous for Ducati. I like all bikes but have always been a sport biker. I ride a 996 Ducati used to have a 750 Paso Ducati. Ducati has a rather interesting history...thats what makes there owners so zealous and often misunderstood. Other then my relationship with our Lord...Ducati is probably an all consuming force in my life, (so my friends & family say).

I suppose when I'm older and grayer I'll stop riding and tracking. I'll always follow the moto racing scene...which reminds me the first race of the year is this Sunday on SPEED.

You may like your Ducati ... but our member, VersysRider, if and when he returns to RF, will likely argue you blue over the merits of his Kawasaki Versys! (Not to mention my son would do the same in favor of his Harley Nightster.)

I test drove a Ducati Monster and fell in love with it. The Ducati's have a specific beautiful sound I must say. I would have bought it if not for my Harley freak husband.

I had an 07 GSXR 600 for the street and an 06 for the track. Before that I had a 93 CBR F2 for the track. Unfortunately I can't afford to ride right now. I sold my street bike to my brother so he can race it. And sold the other two a while back.

I'm hoping the move to 1000cc will make motogp a little more exciting this year.

My sole functioning transportation at the moment are a pair of original issue Mk 1 legs, and a one-micahpower bicycle. However, this should not be a deterrent to my posting some interesting pics I happened to find, purely by coincidental chance when I went for a quick surf...

...from my comfortable and nifty allterrain officechair. Must remember to call the builder about that little mishap with the door....

Problems with roadrage? Solved! 6 solutions for the lanes on either side, and a bandolier of handgrenades should take care of the tailgaters. The pillion can deal with trouble ahead with a shoulderlaunched antitank rocket. The accessory helmet looks like a 10 gallon hat and sprays napalm when the codephrase "Yeeeehaw!" is shrieked. Onboard mp3 player whistles dixie when radar traps are detected.

With the recent cold-snap, law enforcement have been coming up with ingenious solutions. Ok, nothing remotely bike-related about this, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway.

Not sure if the inventor had a thing for LEGO, or just couldn't be bothered with those old-school wire spokes, but this thing looks...interesting. Useful for neighbourhoods where lots of dog-walking goes on....

Hmmm, this obscure Italian firm seems to be branching out into uncharted territory. Judging by the size of the radiator, this scooter must have at least 125cc...probably useful for shopping.

I have no idea what this is, or which of C3PO's relatives is sitting on it, but it does look unusual.

A new batbike? Or is it a doublebarrelled hairdryer pretending to be a locomotive? Hmmm.

Ok, we all know what movie this reminds us of? Correct. The Sound of Music.

Ho-hum, another run-of-the-mill concept bike. No, wait. The interesting thing about this concept is that it has no handlebars. Safer and cheaper that way. Park, pose, but NO DRIVING!

My bikes have been a 125 Tohatso, 150 Honda Dream. Both these while serving in the Army in Thailand. State side on way home from Army bought a 305 Honda Super Hawk. Rode from Frisco to Detroit, and many miles beyond. 185 Suzuki dirt bike. Have also ridden a 250 Ducati 1960ish. 250 Yamaha Big Bear bike. 750K2 Honda. TM400 Suzuki. Have 305 Super Hawk sitting in garage crying to be put together, but knowing me I would immediately start pushing the envelope and get myself in trouble. At 70 I doubt if my bones would like another slide along the pavement.

Ducati and racing go hand in hand. The race track is their R&D department. So many things make Ducati unique from any other bike. They aren't the fastest bikes, but they are considered right at the top as the best...not to mention more world championship titles and victories then all manufactures combined. Their MotoGp bike has topped the 214 mph mark.

Remember (Mike the Bike) Hailwood rode a 860 Ducati to victory in 1978 Isle of Man race. This was after an 11 year vacation from cycle racing too!

I'm familiar with the history of Mike Hailwood, he was before my time in history. For those that don't know....the Isle of Man is INSANE racing, craziest on the planet.

I don't see Ducati ever winning that again with todays technology.

I should be going to the Daytona 200 this year , March 17th. I'm privileged to have access to the Nextel Tower Suite Boxes...the only way to watch. I'll take some pictures and post them here after.

Years ago, in the late 60's I owned an old Honda 305 Dream. LOVED that bike. Rode it everywhere. Some years later, when in the service, owend a Yamaha 750. Wife and I would ride that bike everywhere on weekends. Good times.
When gas prices went out of site in 2008 I actually purchased a small 250 scooter. Was funny to ride but, that little bugger got a little over 100 mpgal. At the time, was a blessing. Would still be using it. However, my youngest son decided to use it one day and ended up destroying it. He came out good except for a large scrape down the side of his leg. Kind of turned his attention away from riding motorcycles.

DH and I ride little toys(scooters) compared to y'all. It is practical for us living in the city. I don't think I could handle anything more powerful at my age but I do like fast things.

Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

Before the foundation of Rome,21st April 753 BC I had my first Ducati 48cc scooter! ( ok,not so long ago, rather in the late 60')...I really loved my little scooter, which ended up stolen....
After that I had a 125 cc LAMBRETTA,which I smashed with frontally with a 1100 Fiat car,I flew in the air and landed on my back part, behind the car,no wounds, because The Lord spared me,even though at the time I was not saved...merciful Lord! by the way the driver of the car was a Roman Catholic priest!!! ah ah....
recently...I mean 2 years ago,I had a GILERA Runner 250 cc 4 strokes....which i sold quite fast because I had an accident so silly that made me think that my love affair with 2 wheels ends up always in a bad way.....so better not to test The lord, and got rid of it.....

What to say? bikes are nice but way too dangerous....at the least for me!

Ain't that the truth. Here in Florida we have those that are 180 years old still behind the wheel to deal with also.

I have a 2007 Vino 125 with 22K miles on it.......use that thing to ride to work and back during the summer 57 miles roud trip. Travel times are 4:30am and 4:30pm so it's not too bad...
