I wish I was. Me and buddies had a trip planned for last Friday and it snowed. We planned it six weeks beforehand thinking the weather would be warm and if it rained "so what". Snow and cold is another story.

What is an on line fishing tournament? Might be game for that.

This is one of our Lake Minnows from last year.

This was a flathead catfish which was caught here in Kahola on 6-24-06. I weighed him in at 50 lbs. That is this old fat greybeard holding him up on a clothesline, at our beach area:

crappie, large and small mouth bass and big brim are the fun ones here, there are some stripped bass that can get 30lbs or more
one can catch on the tar river at the right time of the year
and some big catfish too, thats the easiest fishing to me
Just bait the hooks with chicken gizzards and liver and leave em out overnight and you will be bound to have got at least one in the morning
i do not like to catch them because i am not good at skinning the slimy boogers but the are sure good to eat

and then theres the ocean, 1-hour and 30 Min's away,if you like that
i do not, as i get deathly sea sick and hate the ocean
like looking at it from the beach though

NC is blessed with many species of game fish in the ocean
as well as my favorite crab---blue crab
i cheat, my fish market gets everything thats in season fresh every day, Mr worrell buys FRESH FISH
last week i went in to get a flounder and he had rainbow and speckled trout, left there getting 1 of each fillet and it only cost me 14 bucks

I went to a Super Bowl party hosted by some friends who fish our lake. They served Walleye, Crappie, Channel Cat, and had some trout from Missouri.

They patted the filets dry, and then dredged them in table mustard. They then rolled them in the seasoned flour and deep fryed them in soybean oil. We stood around the fryer and ate quite a few of the fish right off the platter. They tasted alot like Long John Silvers with a kick. They were awesome.

I filet everything from Walley to Channel cat. Just slice down to the spine, back to the tail, flop it open, trim off the ribs, scrape back and forth for any stray bones, and then slice under the filet along the inside of the skin. I cleaned a 4 pound channel for my son-in-law, and only took a couple of minutes to have two approximately 10"x4" boneless filets.

A couple who are good friends for the last 36 years stopped out. They fished off my jetty and had 9-Walleys 17-21" and a 3 pound channel, in about 2 hours.

Don't those Tuna get pretty big?

Was wondering if you needed a cable winch to reel them in?

    Sweet!
We use whole live perch about the size of your hand to catch those big flatheads. Now I want to go to the river! What do you use?

We plan a fishing trip on line and then go fishing. We post our results! Pics are required. Not from distrust but because we want to see the fish!

Live perch is good. Many of the big ones are caught on trot line with large minnows for bait. Stripped frogs is also good late in the summer.

We had one gentleman using crawdads and caught about a three-pound channel. The three-pound channel in turn caught a 30 pound flat-head. I saw the catch, and the channel was in the flat-heads mouth with half the back half sticking out of the mouth. Was amazing to see a double.

Its amazing what those catfish will do when they are hungry. Belive it or not I had one bite and swallow a boober which caused the hook to catch him by the tail. Wierd
