Default Advice for sharing Jesus in High School?

Hi! =) I'm starting high school in a about a week and a half, and want to share the gospel with the other students, problem is, even carrying a Bible around with you to school makes people go "ewwwwwww", or they think it's irrelevant. So, any advice for sharing Jesus with other high schoolers?

First off you need to be prepared for negativity, lame insulting Jokes, and alot of questions about all kinds of random things they take out of context and read on the internet. For them it is easier to make some weird joke, or just have an auto response ready, than face truth. Don't be surprised by any of that, most atheists just don't want to hear about Jesus. Don't push it with them, that will do more harm than good. Part of that is aswell, wait for the right moment, and when it is there speak with Love, make it clear that everything you say is from love for them, and the desire for them to have the best possible. Be ready for random questions about evolution(if you don't know answers look at places like creation.com), evolution to them is a fact, it is not, but it is a place atheists like to poke, and high school students like to ridicule anyone who does not go along in that perception(not just high school students mind you). Other questions that are common are about things like OT laws etc. If someone asks you a question and you don't know the answer to it, there are certain things you can do. Go to a minister, church elder, a parent, or you can post it over here(there are some really good teachers here).
Let your actions speak for you. That is really really important. A lot of young people prefer to look at behavior over words. On top of that we often hear of testimonies of people seeing the love of Jesus in action and converting because of that. So try to live a godly live. It isn't for nothing that Paul wrote in Corinthians that the people there should imitate him, because his actions were far greater an example than his words.
Be patient, no matter what people say at any time, just be patient with them(which granted can be difficult). A lot of people have chosen to be in denial, and as such will go in defensive mode at the first glance of Jesus. Notice how people always go in hatred towards Christianity, and are so tolerant of Islam and pagan religions. Simple fact is, people are scared of the light when they are in the darkness, and Islam and other pagan religions are just that Darkness. It is like when you are in a dark room for a while and then you look into a light.
Don't give up. The message is to great of a thing to give up on telling people about it, especially in these times. There are really stubborn people out there, just speak to them repeatedly, but do it patiently and loving. Some will never be saved unfortunately, but I know of people that had 25 different people preach them the Gospel before finally accepting Christ, it all adds into the sowing process.
Don't let anything the teachers try to teach you get in the way of you and God. A lot of the teaching at high schools is aimed at Liberalism and Evolution and such. If it goes in against The Word, it is false. There might be history lessons discussing religion that will attack God, there will be biology and science lessons that will do the same etc. Don't worry about it, again they love being deceived, so they clutch to failing theories. Again if they give you any questions regarding anything, just ask a dear sibling in Christ.
Hope this was of any help, just some stuff I could come up with.

Lay around bible tracts in the busier parts of the building - the library, cafeteria, and even the playground would probably be the best places where people conveniently see them.

By any chance, is there a New Age/witchcraft section in your school's library? I would go to that section and put tracts in those books.

Here is a good bit of advice. Pray. First off, you must be strong in the Lord. You must believe what you believe with all your heart. You must know its true.

True story: A few years back I was working for a subsidiary of the New Yorker magazine in Boulder Colorado. My trade at the time was printing and preaching. All knew I was a Christian because I talked about it all the time. The guy on day shift would purposely hang Full Nudes at my work bench just to get at me. Yes I looked but I did not stare! I simply put a Bible quote in front of it and left that for him. We went back and forth harmlessly for awhile until one day He purposely set up a print job that was Porn for me to finish running. It was a full four color spread of a nude woman for Play boy magazine. Now everyone on the shift was silent when I came in and just watched what I was going to do.

So I went to the back of the press, 40' long press, and fell to my knees and began to pray. I prayed for what seemed like 20 minutes or so. I knew I would need the strength to stand. Strangely, no one interupted me. I got up and went to the front of the press and my boss, the splitting image of Merlin Olsen in size as well, showed up screaming because the press was not running. I told him I COULD NOT PRINT PORNOGRAPHY because it was affront to Jesus and my faith. He screamed some more then told me to go to the break area. I did, and I prayed for more strength. A few minutes later he shows up screaming again for me to get into the plant managers office. Ok I knew it, I was going to be fired and I had 3 children at home and was barely sraping by. My stomach was aching something fierce.

I went into his office and that cranky old man started in on me as well. Just when the words your fired began to fall from his lips the door swung wide open. A tall man in a business suit walked in. I had never seen him before. He said what is all the commotion in here? Then he looked at me and I said well sir, there is a full color pornographic job for playboy on my press. I cannot run that job because I am a Christian. He looked at the production manager who said, well sir, we pay.... He was interupted and the mystery man said, I do not see a problem here. He walked over to the window and gazed out on the plant floor and he said, "there is no one on press 13." Go down there son. And good evening.

I went out to the press with the victory of the Lord and I did not lose my witness. I was so stressed and was shaking uncontrollably. A little later, I went out on my break and wept furiously for 30 mins.

The tall thin guy, well, He was the President of New Yorker Magazine. He just flew in for a surprise visit.

God is so awesome. He is always there, no matter what.

I will post another time if anyone is interested on the printing company I worked for in Kansas. I was sent home from it on several occasions but something good came of it. I eventually got fired, not for witnessing but for catching my boss snorting cocain in the bathroom. With blood running out his nostrils I offered him help, he fired me the next day.

    God bless.
    In Christ,

Daniel 12:3 (New King James Version)

Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.

Wow mikhen7 that is one awesome testimony, absolutely amazing. Praise the Lord for how he takes care of His Children like that. Incredible, lifted my spirit that one. And you make an excellent point, praying is a must in everything.

God bless you Kist! God has never failed me. Even If I have to die I will if thats what He wants. I saythat humbly because I know in my heart I am just as bad a sinner as anyone else.

But if we stand for Him, He will stand for us. I can guarantee it.

    The Lord is indeed awesome.

    Prov. 3:5-6,

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
    In Christ,

And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.

Titus 2: 1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

I just want you to be aware that I wrote the testimony above to give you encouragement. No matter what we face if we trust the Lord fully He will be there for us. More people will come to you when you stand without backing down because they will see something special in you. Inwardly teens want to be accepted so they tend to follow what is popular. Your zeal to stand for Christ will not be popular to most but it will attract those who are seeking the Lord. You may not see it at first, but soon they will begin to come to you and ask questions. Most likely it will be in private. But do not let that distract you. Remember, you are in the company of Christ.

Also, remember we are all at differing stages of spiritual maturity. Somethings done or said will offend you but you have to remember that lost people are going to act like lost people. Some saved kids will not be acting so saved either, its because they need discipleship. If you notice this be very friendly to them. Begin to share How God has worked in your life. You may even be able to start an afterschool Bible study at a coffee shop or bookstore. Also remember that all people love to watch a fire. So burn with the fire of God and stand strong for what you believe. Get excited about it. When someone asks you why you believe tell them "because for the first time in my life I have freedom." Let them know of the overwhelming peace of God that flows through you when you know you are living to be what He has called you to be.

To help fan the flame within your heart study the scripture that teach your position in Christ. Such as,
    Eph. 1:3:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ."

    Eph. 2:6:
"and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,"

    Heb. 12:22:
"But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels,"

The salvation you possess is something even Gods angels desire to look into,
    1Pet. 1:12:
To them [the prophets of old] it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into."

    2 Pet. 2:2-4;
"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

Paul was compelled or Constrained to teach the truth, like Jeremiah, he had a fire shut up in his bones, and he had to proclaim the liberating truth that results in our salvation,
    2 Cor. 5:13-15:
For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you. For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
Remember you have been crucified with Christ it is Christ who lives in you,

    Gal. 2:20:
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Practice memorizing the truths in Gods promises. If you haven't already get you a book on God's promises. When I first got saved I wore the cover off of 3-4 new testaments in the first 3 months of salvation. I figured if I was going to trust Him I needed to know all about Him. Get you a pocket new testament. My favorite is the Christian life new testament. It also contains 15 major outlines to help you know God in a more vibrant way. Plus you can stick in in your pocket and always have it ready to use.

Acts 26:19, Paul before Agrippa-you can have this testimony as well,
"I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,"
    In Christ,

Daniel 12:3 (New King James Version)

Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.

yeah pray and be very close to the Lord(for all of life) and He'll lead you, Spirit led, even giving you words to say

you'll be amazed and have great joy, and if your reviled He'll give you such grace you won't be offended at all

our God is so amazing, at times He's held my tongue(by giving me no reaction or a blank so to speak) other times saying the Word with love and Truth way way beyond me. He'll open doors for you to walk through sharing the gospel and amazingly many many doors just ask Him and abide close to Him and rejoice in Him always and seeking Him. He'll lead you :))

Thanks! I just finished my first week (the school's nice, my teachers like me, classes seem easy enough, though my history teacher's a little too politically correct for my taste. Let's just say I'm going to have to explain what Christians actually believe, rather than what our textbook says. ).

Well, I bought a bunch of shirts from kerusso, I'm a bill- board for Christ (still waiting for that second order to arrive. ) =) And we need to new music for P.E, so I offered to burn a cd of Christian music and they said it was ok! =) So yay. =)

I found this smiley, and it's cool, anyone mind if I use it now? :P
