    Default Just Out Of Reach...

I have been witnessing to and praying for an individual, my best friend, and a couple, the woman is someone I really felt God brought into my life for a reason. In both cases, they seem just out of reach...

My best friend e-mails me those silly chain letters with just enough of a veneer of Christianity to seem credible to her, since she doesn't read the Bible. She actually tried going to church, but reported that no one would talk to her, so she quit going. She has a really sweet Christian coworker who has also been witnessing to her for years, but for unknown reasons, doesn't go to church with her. I can't help but think the Holy Spirit is trying to get through to her, but she remains just out of reach.

The couple is a much more serious problem. Both of them lie a lot, and they have a pattern of dragging each other down. A really good church tried very honestly to get through to her, but she doesn't seem sincere about growing up, and if her actions go unchanged, the consequences will be truly unthinkable. I think she knows, I have good reason to believe she has been told, but for some reason, she remains very selfish, very immature, and a genuine danger to herself...

I just don't know any more what to do. I feel utterly defeated by what feels like wasted time on prayer and wasted effort on these people, its like trying to bail out a lake with a measuring cup. Thoughts anyone?

Time spent in prayer is never wasted! He hears. (And it's what we're commanded to do.) It sounds like you've already "done" the witnessing that you were supposed to do already. Stop bailing and continue praying. If the Holy Spirit IS drawing these people to Him, He won't fail in His job. Your job is to plant the seeds, not to pull the plant out to inspect the roots. JMHO

Meg I shared the Gospel and lived a life as a witness of Jesus to my Mom for 24 years before I saw any response from her. She went home to Jesus in March 2007.

I shared the Gospel and lived a life as a witness of Jesus to my sister for 27 years. She passed away last week May 18, 2010. I don't know if she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour or not.

I prayed for my ex-husband for 15 years and did not have the chance to share the Gospel with him till 6 months before his death. I also found out that others had been sharing the Gospel with him. He was well aware of the drastic change in my lifestyle and that I had become a Believer in Jesus in 1983, he went home to Jesus in February 1998. So he saw the change knowing the me before Jesus. The Lord in His goodness and mercy allowed me to hear verbal confirmation from my ex-husband's mouth 2 weeks before he went home to Jesus that he had indeed accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour.

There are many I have shared the Gospel with and many who knew me before Jesus that see the change in my life.

That is all I can do.

The Holy Spirit is the one to draw the sinner and reveal the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them. Jesus is the One to bring them into the fold.

It always points to Jesus. For He alone is the Saviour and He alone gets the Glory for any and all who come to a saving knowledge of Him.

I have a son who I am praying for and I have shared the Gospel with him and he too knows me before Jesus. I have told Jesus that I may not see it before I go home to Him, but I trust Jesus to work His Will.

I agree with Readytogo.........we only plant the seeds and then move on...........Jesus gets the Glory.

Just keep on praying for these lost souls, that is really all you can do.

Titus 2: 1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
