"As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." “The poison of vipers is on their lips.” “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know.” "There is no fear of God before their eyes.” (Romans 3:10-18, NIV)
No one on this planet is "good."
As far as "alienating them", I'm sorry, but our marching orders are clear in this matter, and they come from the Lord:
"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them." (2 Timothy 3: 1-5, NIV)
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." ( 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, KJV)
There was someone I knew who was gay, and every time I got the chance, I witnessed to him. I never 'alienated" him, nor made disparaging remarks, and I got to know him fairly well. I always treated him as a PERSON, and not a thing. And I try very much to do that for ANYONE who is lost, no matter what their sin is. But do NOT ask me to condone what SCRIPTURE has already said is a sin. If someone is doing something scripture says is WRONG and will not repent of it, then how can they be a member of the body of Christ?
I'm sorry, but the Word of God is clear on this. And i do not care what a priest, rabbi, pastor, or anyone else says. When scripture says one thing and a human being says another, I go with scripture.
