Default How to lead Muslims to Jesus

    The camel knows

Every Muslim knows that Allah has 99 names, and many know of a tradition which says that only a camel knows his 100th name. That name is ‘Isa’! The Koran, the Muslims’ holy book, does not answer the question directly, but gives enough clear hints. Many experienced missionaries start a conversation with Muslims with the words “I have discovered an amazing truth in the Koran, which gives hope of eternal life in paradise. Would you please read me Sure Al-Imran 3:42-55?”

The Koran teaches that Jesus knows the way to heaven. This Sure says three things about Isa (Jesus) which clearly lift him above
the status of a prophet: Isa is holy (3:42-48), has power over death (49-54) and knows the way to heaven (55-56). This is a shock for many Muslims, because what does the Koran say about Mohammed? The surest answer is to say that Mohammed is what he said of himself; in Sure 46:9-10, he says “I am nothing new among prophets; I do not know what will become of me or my followers. I am just a voice of warning.”

If Mohammed is nothing different or more than all the prophets before him, and did not claim to be the greatest prophet of all, did not know where he or his followers would go after death, and professes to simply be a voice of warning, the contrast with Jesus’ statements about himself (for example John 6:47 and 14:1-7) could hardly be greater. If you then ask a Muslim “I want to go to heaven when I die. Which prophet can help me get there?”, the result is often a process leading them to read the Injil (New Testament) and find Jesus. Information from the Koran (very important for Muslims) reveals Jesus to be clearly more than just a prophet, and endows him practically with saviour status. “The Koran does not contain enough light to show someone the way to salvation, but enough small candles to guide seekers the right way,” says Greeson.

What I get from this is, that anyone seriously seeking God with all their heart will soon drop the Koran and grab a Bible. Of course, nobody can come to Him unless He draws them, and He only draws them through Jesus, and anyone that doesn't have Jesus doesn't have the Father.

    Matthew 11:27-30
27 All things have been entrusted and delivered to Me by My Father; and no one fully knows and accurately understands the Son except the Father, and no one fully knows and accurately understands the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son deliberately wills to make Him known.
28 Come to Me, you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.
30 For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good--not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.

My God, why are You so good to me? Your answer is almost too wonderful to comprehend, but I'll take it...thanks and praise be to You, forever!

Funny how we've never heard of this before. That is, reading that the Koran refers to Jesus Christ as the One knowing the way to eternal life. I'm quite sure that statement from the Koran could be explained away by a true scholar, a master theologian, of the Koran as to it's actual meaning. Well, at least to the true believer of the Koran that is.

As to using this as a means to witness to a Muslim, I had to look at it from a point of view as a Christian. Meaning, consider someone one came to me one day and showed me a scripture from the Bible that alluded to the fact that the "god" of the Koran, NOT JESUS CHRIST, was the One that knew the REAL way to eternal life, what would that do to me? In one short moment of time, a well meaning individual, had just erased ALL the belief I had ever held in my God, my Savior, my eternal security, MY LIFE!! What would that mean to me? Enlightenment? Or destruction? Certainly an interesting thought.

One would think, in using such a means of witnessing to Muslims, this should ONLY be conducted by and through the urgings of the Holy Spirit. After all, who else would KNOW how this one you're witnessing to would, or could, receive such a revelation from his/her world???

Not trying to "read more than is here" in stating this. Just attempting to consider, what would a Muslim say or think when confronted with the idea that their world, their life, was established on a lie? How would we, as Christians, respond to such? Only a loving God, through Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit could EVER know how someone would receive such a revelation.

    Default Witnessing to Muslims..

Our church has some missionaries in India and last year, they were home on furlough and held a seminar about their work with Muslims. They said that, although most Muslims believe in Allah as God, that Jesus and Mary and Abraham are also respected in the Koran, but also that most Muslims would not read the Bible.

Which led to the obvious question...how does one who is trying to introduce Christianity make the transition from Jesus being merely being respected as a prophet (Koran) to being accepted as God in flesh (Bible), especially since most would not get into religious discussions which would cast any doubt at all on Islam.

The answer is that, apparently, in the Koran somewhere, there is or are some statements or commands which say something to the effect of 'honoring' the words of Jesus.
So, according to our missionary, the exchange would go something like....Are you a good/devout Muslim? Do you follow the commands of the Koran ? Do you follow (sorry, whatever the Koran reference is) the command to honor the teachings of Jesus? Have you read Jesus teachings? (they are not fully in Koran, apparently). How can you honor Jesus's commands if you have not read them?

Then, of course, where do you find Jesus' teachings which takes them to the Bible and then they have to deal with the contradiction between the two books and the questions of how to honor Jesus who claims to be God which contradicts the Koran, etc. Anyway, it is a technique that can force a Muslim to, at least, read the message of Jesus and then see what conclusions that leads them to. And the command to pursue that path comes straight from their own book. So, that is at least one method of introducing Muslims to the claims of Jesus. And the Bible says clearly that "...My word will not return to me void.." RonJ
