    Praise NC Marriage Amendment vote!

    Everyone:

On 03 May, I asked you all to pray for the state of North Carolina, as we were to vote on an amendment to our state constitution that would "provide that marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State." This vote was scheduled during our state primary elections on Tuesday, 08 May.

Well, according to the official website for the North Carolina State Board of Elections, [scroll to the bottom of the page the link opens for the amendment totals] with 100 of 100 counties reporting, the amendment has PASSED! The "for" votes are 1,303,952 (61.05%), and the "against" votes are 831,788 (38.95%)! PRAISE GOD!

The 11 o'clock news was at a Baptist church whose minister had been an outspoken supporter of the amendment. The reporter voiced-over the video of supporters still at the church to thank God for the vote results, noting that, in the past few days, things had gotten very "nasty" in the pre-election debate -- so much so that the church had received e-mails so hateful and virulent, "we can't show you any of them on TV." Then, they interviewed the pastor, who noted that, "In the past, few days, I have heard my Lord and Savior called things..." He paused, then continued, "That I thought I would never hear..." How sad.

Even sadder was the next live report, from the obviously liberal "Temple Immanuel" synagogue. The obviously liberal rabbi talked about how sad it was that our state had "written discrimination into our law and constitution." Then, they talked to some at the synagogue who were commiserating over their "loss," and the reporter noted that a Facebook page for "Repeal the Amendment" had already been started, with 475 "likes" already. I watched and wondered how the rabbi reconciled himself with what the Torah had to say concerning homosexuality, but then, liberals have never allowed "FACTS" to get in the way of their own, personal desires... The saddest thing will be when that rabbi, and all of his fellow "against" voters, have to stand before the Lord Yeshua, at the end of time, and explain that vote, and how they could so easily dismiss everything the Word of God had to say on the subject...

Anyway, thanks again to everyone who prayed about this vote!

    Praise God!

Have some lefty friends that live up there and they just can't stand this side of the state. It's like they want NC to be California. It's good to see that the good people of NC haven't gone and tried to re-write what the Lord said in his Word.

Really glad to hear this news.

Get ready NC...gonna be an early hurricane season...that dust cloud on the horizon is the army of lawyers; protestors; 'Preachers'; activists; professional protestors; and camp followers coming to correct you backward folk through litigation - shouting - threats - righteous indignation backed by 'civil rights' - and of course Christian demonization.

Yep. Some female "reverend" was "sound-bited" ("sound-bit"?) on the radio news today. As a leader of the LGBTG movement here, they are planning a week-long protest in which LGBTG couples will spend a week wasting the time of folk in the courthouses across this state, registering for and then demanding -- when refused -- marriage licenses. What a shame that they don't have constructive things to do with their time...like work...

But they ARE working, bro. They are going about the work of their father. He's just not the father that the so-called "Christian" gay ministers and their flocks think he is.

Every time this is voted on, it goes down to pretty large defeats. I truly pray that these folks would be convicted of the truth and would do an about face and run to the Lord.

I would not surprise me if the DOJ is preparing to file suit against the state. In the mean time, the LGBT special interests will also file suit and it will get kicked around the courts until an activist judge rules in favor of same sex marriage - effectively negating another vote by the people.

LOL, gotcha! (You'd think, after nearly 20 years in radio, I'd know that, but I was never in the news booth, and I've been out since July of 2006)!

    Yes, may God grant!

I heard, recently, a proponent of the amendment on Christian radio pointing out that:

    1. In Genesis 2, God creates marriage, and blesses it.
    2. In Numbers, we can see how God creates and centers Jewish culture and society on marriage and the nuclear family.
    3. In Deuteronomy, God then says, "I place before you life and blessing, and death and cursing. Therefore, CHOOSE LIFE!"

He then went on to note that, if we choose "death" -- a position in opposition to God -- we can not expect Him to bless us or our state. To buttress this point, he said that Moody's Investors Service had released a survey that they had taken, asking businesses which states they MOST wanted to be "in," and which they LEAST wanted to be "in." He noted -- and, I have not confirmed this anecdote -- that of the 30 states that -- at that time -- had some type of Biblical marriage act or amendment enacted, eight of the top ten "desirable" states in the Moody's survey were a part of the 30. That is, eight of the top ten have such legislation in place. In contrast, seven of the bottom ten on the survey had legislation in place that supported or allowed same-sex marriage. I've not seen the survey, so I can't CONFIRM what the man said, but it certainly makes sense to me!

That being said, I certainly hope that God Almighty will choose to bestow His blessings on this state -- most certainly to include this November's elections!

I have tried to correlate the Best States for Business Index with the Survey of States by Marriage legislation. I could not find Moody's survey of the former but I did find Forbes'. The Top Ten States for Business & Jobs are Colorado, Iowa, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington state. All, except Iowa and Washington apparently have legislation in place defining marriage as between a man and a woman.

The ten worst states for business and jobs are Alaska, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia, Of these, five states (HI, IL, NJ, RI, VT) allow either same-sex marriage or same-sex civil unions. The remaining five (AK, ME, MI, MS, WV) have legislation defining marriage as being only between a man and a woman. Therefore, while the article may be partially correct in the statistics that it quotes, I do not think that it demonstrates what the author purports it to show— that God blesses those states that do not flaunt His laws. I wish it were that simple, but it is not. WE cannot equate financial prosperity with God's blessing. That was the error of the Pharisees.

God blesses in quite different ways than we expect.

Point well taken. And,it may've been Forbes', or even a different company. I only heard the guy once, and thought it was Moodys' survey that he referenced -- I may've been incorrect. (Wish I had better info. Sorry).

Oh don't worry some court will come along and declare the amendment unconsititutional due to [insert some lame excuse here].

The people of this country inherenly know what they want but unfortunatly a lot of the times the lefties win because they have the courts on their side.

I am happy to see the voters do the right thing......
