    Default what should I do with used laptops that are several years old

    they have old financial records on them, etc.

    Clean them out and then I would call the makers...some will buy them back and refurbish them...Gateway does. Or resale them, after cleaning them out, on eBay or something if they are in working order.

    I'll get started on it right away!

    oh one of them the power cord doesn't make contact & it would cost $250 to send off to get it fixed.

    Anyway I can fix it myself? It's an HP

    I'd clean them off real good and sell them in a yardsale. I sold an old one in a yard sale last year for $200 I believe. It was made back in the 90's, ha!
