    Default Mozilla Thunderbird

I have been using Thunderbird for close to two years. It has been working fine. That is til today.

This morning my mail was fine. This evening it is all gone and the page is blank. No mail in it at all. And this morning I did have all the mail that I wanted to keep.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Carl, I use Thunderbird, too.

It has a bad habit once in a long while of forgetting your profile name and using a default name which makes it look as though you have lost your messages. But you haven't. Here's a link that tells you how to get all your messages to show up again.

God bless you. And I hope you are feeling well, bro.

I highly recommend Thunderbird. I use to get 100+ spam messages a day and then switched to Thunderbird and they dropped to almost zero. Outlook Express is terrible.

The latest update to Mozilla Firefox was supposed to address this issue. Since installing the update, haven't had any "glitches" what so ever, especially in emails and files relating to my emails.

OOPS! Sorry, I do realize there's a difference in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird but, do basically work off the same basic builds. Maybe, and I"m sure, Thunderbird has an update soon addressing this issue.

Sorry I didn't post earlier. Have been busy with life. Did think about posting yesterday, but didn't take the time.

Thunderbird was supposed to have an update that fixed the problem. I played with Thunderbird and updates. Didn't work for me. I tried setting up a new account and that didn't work either.

Finally gave up. When I got home from the Cancer Treatment Center I just installed Microsoft Out Look Express. So far that is working for me. Has some major operating differences that Thunderbird that I will have to get used to (fight my way through), but I am learning.

The Thunderbird fault seems to be associated with the default settings for the program. Something about it can lose the location of the mail files when it uses a default setting for a mail account. I just couldn't figure out how to set up a user defined mail account.

Oh well, life goes on doesn't it?

    Default Outlook Express

After I got home and not getting anywhere with Thunderbird I decided to try Outlook Express. It installed nicely. Infact I just answered the question about "do I want to make O E the default mail program" _ _ yes and it installed itself.

Only thing is that it keeps putting "mail" in my address. Then that gets copied to the receivers address book. Then that address is used for mail to me.

I have sent emails to myself. Carefully typing in my email address and then sending it to myself. When I look at the letter in the sent folder it has the "mail" in my address.

    It changes carl@sbcglobal dot com
    TO
    carl@mail.sbcglobal dot com

    Anyone have any ideas?

Finally stumbled upon the problem. Went into accounts and started snooping. finally discovered that my mailing address in one of the screens had the 'mail' in with the rest of the address. Somehow Outlook decided to insert that in when it did the initial setup for me. So everything seems fine now!
