These days, you can get a deal on anything. Even salvation! Pope Benedict has announced that his faithful can once again pay the Catholic Church to ease their way through Purgatory and into the Gates of Heaven.

Never mind that Martin Luther fired up the Reformation because of them: Plenary Indulgences are back.

The New York Times reports that even though the church officially broke with the age-old practice -- you do something good, and the Church will help absolve you -- in 1960, the Pope has quietly reintroduced it. The Catholic Church had technically banned the practice of selling indulgences as long ago as 1567.

As the Times points out, a monetary donation wouldn't go amiss toward earning an indulgence. It writes, "charitable contributions, combined with other acts, can help you earn one." You can even buy indulgences this way for loved ones who are already dead, greasing their way to Heaven by doing something for the Church here on Earth.

Why would the Catholic Church agree to this reversal? It wouldn't be the harsh economy, would it, or the church's fading influence? Not at all, says a Brooklyn bishop. "Because there is sin in the world," he told the newspaper.

I like the statement of the man quoted in the article: "I had a number of people come in and say, ‘Father, I haven’t been to confession in 20 years, but this’ ” — the availability of an indulgence — “ ‘made me think maybe it wasn’t too late.’ ”

You know it always amazes me how we, including myself, can see so clearly the log in the others eye. Of course this one is not a splinter. However, I have been a Christian for over 20 years and during this time have witnessed evil practices in every denomination I have had the pleasure to be exposed to. It is easy for Protestants to point out the sins of Catholicism because the bible so clearly points at her and her sin. However, what about the other 7 churches in the Revelation? They are not innocent.

Those who are Catholic are possessed by a spirit of Antichrist or they are held by it in ignorance. They don't know it. If they knew the truth about it they would run from her. They are taught that they can't understand the bible and so they never read it, or at least the Revelation. But what about the Jehovah's Witness or the Lutherans or the Mormons. They have abominable doctrines, too.

So what about the Baptist and the Pentecostal. Do they have doctrines that contradict Christ? Sure they do. They say they are born again so they are under grace. You can't be born a Christian at birth. How many Baptist have children who accept the religion but never get born again and still go on to bible college to become pastors with bachelor degrees in theology? They lead the congregation without the Spirit.

Look at how many world religious leaders have bowed to the Pope and kissed his ring in the past few years.

How many argue their doctrine with pride and refuse to bow to the word in every denomination? Millions!

Your denomination can't save you. Only the blood of Jesus and a pure heart will save you in the end.

I say all of this because I have witnessed this pride of religion in every denomination and have seen the error of the church in every one. Am I perfect. Not a bit, but I know when you lie against the word of God.

We are all called to repentance in this last day. It is not the sins of eating or drinking that will take us to hell but the sin against God and His Christ. Search your heart and you understanding and admit when you could be wrong less you miss it.

And I will do the same.

What? I'm not sure what you are trying to say here.

This is thread is not about the other denominations, it is about the RCC.

Now, as for the highlighted, I do not think the Baptists teach that you are born a Christian. The "born again" is of the spirit, not of the flesh. And yes, when we are born again we are saved by grace thru faith in Jesus' work on the cross, death, burial, and resurrection.

What is so stunning to me is the implied message behind the story. People believe the church has the power to have control of matters after death. Does that not blow your minds? Not only do people believe it, the church promotes it and exploit people's ignorance of Scripture. The very institution the people see as the gateway to heaven is actually the greatest impediment to it's entry.

And yet, it is not shocking that an organization is actually selling salvation? One paid for through horrible suffering and torture? Something this organization never endured nor any person in its organization. A salvation paid for in blood that this organization is trying to steal as their own.

This truly saddens me and scares me as well--for those who fall for it.

But the Roma Catholic Church does not preach THE GOSPEL of JESUS,By Grace through Faith,rather a man made gospel based on obedience to Mother Church ( The Roman Catholic Church) and "IL MAGISTERO" =The Roman "MASTERS"= The Roman Catholic Pope,His Cardinals and His bishops and His local parish priests and nuns.( do not forget the friars and the monks) AND A (DEAD) WORKS SYSTEM.
They preach ( without shame) Another Jesus,Another Gospel,Another Spirit.
They have created in the course of centuries a VERY WEALTHY and POWERFUL CONTROL SYSTEM over the entire WORLD.

BUT,BE PREPARED,because those are "OLD DEMONS" very crafty and astute and either will kill you or corrupt you as they have been doing now a long time "infiltrating" the BORN AGAIN EVANGELICAL denominations and given birth to that "monstrosity" that is the 21st century church.
I still pray that THE LORD will save among The Roman Catholic and surely He does,but when He does He takes them out of that UNCLEAN THING that is THE RCC.
