    Thumbs up Ron Paul 08

During the last 3 Republican debates, Ron Paul became the top winner in all the after debate polls. Funny thing is, the media appears to be choosing our presidential nominees for us as they continually ignore the people and push Clinton, Giuliani, Obama, Romney & McCain in our faces.
I used to be a Fox news watcher but not anymore. Hannity & O'Reilly can barely contain their contempt for Ron Paul and are continually rude beyond belief. So much for their "fair & balanced" reporting.

Ron Paul is getting the attention of Americans everywhere (democrats & republicans alike) as he bases his political issues on the constitution, not lobbyists or corporations.

"Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation’s capital. As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dr. Paul tirelessly works for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. He is known among his congressional colleagues and his constituents for his consistent voting record. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. "

In your opinion, why is his campaign getting so much contempt?

I'm not sure other than he (Ron Paul), voted against the Iraq war citing constitutional reasons, voted against the Patriot Act, and other various bills that have been passed since 9-11 that inhibit or take away our liberties through fear mongering. It seems that both parties want to continue in the fashion of sticking our noses in everyone's business. I agree with Ron Paul that we cannot spread democracy with the barrel of a gun. Where is the motivation to want liberty when it is forced on you?

As I watched the debate from NH I noticed that all of the candidates (except RP) support a preemptive nuclear strike policy against Iran. I keep thinking, who wins in a nuclear war and doesn't Russia & China support Iran? Don't we have this MAD (mutually assured destruction) policy where if someone nukes us we will nuke them into a glass parking lot? Ron Paul believes in non interference of other countries politics (unless necessary and it adheres to the constitution) and that we should get our own house in order (we definitely need that).

He also is a staunch opponent to the IRS, Federal Reserve, UN, WTO, NAFTA and other government pork barrel spending bureaucracies that never get us anywhere other than deeper and deeper in debt. Right now I believe the national debt is hovering around 9 trillion dollars and rising daily.

Ron Paul has put the constitution first above any party affiliation.

I know that God has his hands on everything that is going on but it makes me sick to my stomach that human beings can't do the right thing first without Him having to intervene. All out thermo nuclear war will wipe out civilization as we know it and the escalation and talk of it need's to stop right now. I'd rather put the leaders of these countries in a boxing ring and let them duke it out.

    Default Not enough information...

I haven't really looked into him that much, but I do know that many people think he's crazy for his ideas. As I said, I haven't researched him that much, but I've heard he's more of a libertarian than a republican. Do you know how he is on moral issues? As much as I hate to say this, it seems that moral issues are on the "back burner" right now compared to getting our country back on track to where it needs to be as a world power.

I agree the government is way too involved in everything right now, but what gives me comfort is that God will take care of His people...not matter what kind of government is upon them.

I guess it's each individual's responsibility to do independent research on the candidates but I can offer my own personal thoughts.

Ron Paul is an avid constitutionalist running on the Republican ticket. I don't see that there is anything "crazy" about his philosophy of the nation being run by the constitution. It is the way it should be.

The two party system is just wrong. It totally defeats any person who is not affiliated with either one. There are good people out there but they don't have a snowballs chance in hell to be elected if they are not a part of the "good ol' boys club". It's been announced that a candidate needs 100 million dollars to win the presidency. Since when did that become a prerequisite? I find that those who have a fervent quest for the almighty dollar can be bought out by special interests. It happens every day.

Anyway, the media has become a propagandist tool by which those who own the media outlets pick and choose whom they want us to see/vote for. It's blatant in your face factual once you start looking. I have become sick over the constant non-stop media coverage of Anna Nicole Smith, Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, ad nauseam. It's like continual live coverage of the Enquirer or Entertainment Magazine. The media sweethearts have really had a field day with Ron Paul and his supporters and seem to work very hard to discredit, disrespect and disregard anything that Ron Paul has to say. I say, "Me thinks they doth protest too much!" I've finally given up on the media and am close to pitching my TV in the dump or just using it for my DVD's or VHS movies.

Personally, I like what he (Ron Paul) has to say and I try to get his name out there so people can decide for themselves instead of taking the word of the those who are desperately trying to denigrate his name.

As an obstetrician who has delivered over 4000 children, I have long been concerned with the rights of unborn people. I believe this is the greatest moral issue of our time. The very best of the western intellectual tradition has understood the critical link between moral and political action. Each of these disciplines should strongly inform and support the other.

Sadly Ron Paul is my US Representative here in Galveston County TX - I have followed his long political career and IMO he is mostly on the kook fringe...

Certainly he spouts a few good ideas that most conservatives endorse however he is at heart a member of the "Libertarian Party" and previously ran for president years ago on their national platform

His only real claim to fame is that each year he introduces in the House a bill to legalize the growing of "Hemp" (i.e. marijuana) in the US - which is a key tenant of the Libertarian Party (i.e. legalize all illegal drugs)...

Paul also endorses the Libertarian position that demands that the US suspend all foreign military aid to Israel which ranges from 1 to 2 billion dollars annually...

Paul has also publically stated that the US should grant full constitutional rights (freedom) to the islamo-terrorists being held prisoner at GITMO in Cuba

He only switched over and called himself a "Rep" when he was unable to get elected to any office as an active member of the Libertarian Party...

The good news IMO is that he now has three opponents that are running against him for the local House of Rep seat from my district -

    1. I guess I don't understand what you mean by "kook fringe". Compared to the rest of the candidates he is as normal as the rest of the idiots that are in the horse race.

    2. Congressman Paul is a libertarian (lower case L) in the sense that he is a champion of individual liberties. Is there something wrong with that?

    3. Personally, as a physician the Congressman is against drug use. But as a legislator he does not believe that it is the federal government's role to legislate on that issue. See the bill H.R. 1009 "To amend the Controlled Substances Act to exclude industrial hemp from the definition of marijuana, and for other purposes."

    4. Here is a policy statement on Israel: Ron Paul does not have a specific policy on Israel. He believes we shouldn't subsidize other nations and favors a non-interventionist foreign policy. He believes Israel should be able to protect itself and we shouldn't get involved in ongoing alliances and support their agendas. He would take our troops out of all foreign countries around the world. It it not up to the U.S. to nation build and install representative republics in other nations. We should lead by example not by force. (Does God really need us (the US) to do His work for Him. If we think that we are the only thing that keeps Israel going then we really need to take a humble step back and think about what our role is. Really, it's kind of like we are thinking we are all that, but we aren't. God took care of Israel long before the US was ever concepted so who are we to think that if it weren't for us, Israel wouldn't exist nor stand a chance. We are so self absorbed with ourselves and how important we think we are. Consider the mustard seed parable.)

At this point in life, I really don't care who wins the office of POTUS. I figure it's all in God's hands anyway no matter who sits on the throne. I personally like RP. If nobody else does, so be it.

I'm sorry but none of the Republican candidates thrill me right now. I really don't think Ron Paul has much of a chance becoming the presidential nominee for the GOP. For starters his name sounds too much like RuPaul.:)

I happen to agree. The only one I remotely like is Fred Thompson...and he still hasn't convinced me that he would be the best candiate either even if he runs.

The GOP, IMO, just don't have that good of a selection. Won't vote Democrat because they do not hold to my Philosophy on life, the Bible, or anything else for that matter.

Will have to wait and see what happens...

I agree with your assessment and like you I don't have a clue who I might vote for. I kind of dread all the political wrangling to be honest. Maybe Jesus will return and we want have to worry about it.

Hmmmm....I'm on the internet and there's a Ron Paul thread, even though he polls in the low single digits on each and every non-push poll .

I'm with TomT, I wish he was in the other party. Legalizing all drugs and prostitution? Forget it, but to think it'll be until February before they finally get out of Thompson's way.

I too like Fred Thompson as well, LindaLee. It is him I'm getting excited about.

I also won't vote for any Democrat, because they don't stand for anything I stand for Biblically related.

I too hope that Jesus comes soon, so we won't have anthing to worry because we'll be up in heaven. :prayer

    Default My speculation...

As much as it would sadden me, I think a Democrat in the presidency would bring everything needed for the middle east to finally start it's "romp" to Jerusalem...I feel a hard-nosed Republican would create an issue with anyone trying to head to Jerusalem, while a "bleeding heart" would turn their head the other way...

I was attracted to Ron Paul originally because of his pro-life stance. I sorta liked his "libertarian" view on other subjects. But when he took the stance of Isolationism, I object.

I strenuously object to his insistence we stay out of military action. I don't want armed conflict, but it will always be here until Christ comes back to rule! And if it's going to be here, and we have the ability to stand up for those who are unable to do so, then I do not want a Ron Paul running the show and refusing to help when needed.

I also object to his desire to leave Israel out of the equation. We are being tested to see if we believe God's word, and so far we have......

Hey, adopted - Alan Keyes is running now, pro-life is what he's all about.

Like Ron Paul, though, he doesn't have a shot - that man can not campaign, but he can give a mean speech.

The GOP nominee will be Fred Dalton Thompson, Guiliani will be the runner-up but off the ticket.

Remember, the primary election sends a message. So it does matter who you vote for in that election. I will find the most honorable, pro-life, PRO_TRUTH candidate I can and vote for that person. I don't care about gender, color, or shape.

In the national election, I'll vote for the least damaging for the above ideas. I must brush up on Alan Keys I see.

Rp08 sure soaks up what the main stream media puts out, then uses it to support his position. That's your right fella. But you become a "history revisionist" when you state this was an "illegal war" as both the U.N. AND US Congress both voted to take military action. You like to conveniently forget that fact.

And whether or not I want to be in Iraq, the fighting sure has been there instead of here, hasn't it? I WANT NO WARS! But God has told me I cannot have this until his Son comes to make it so. So Ron Paul needs to wake up and work towards as little military involvement as possible. A true leader knows when he will have to use it, Ron strikes me as one who would never see a need. And your insistence that Israel can take care of itself...."God blesses those that bless Israel." To leave it to fend for itself would be insane. Look at the maps, population, and $ of anti-Jewish people and governments surrounding that country.

If you wish to maintain any modicum of integrity, write your representative and find out if congress did not vote to use military force on IRAQ. (Even Hillary admits she voted to do so)

Then research the newspapers for the UN resolutions which authorized military action against IRAQ, if Saddam didn't open his books and allow complete inspection of ANY SITE THE UN WISHED! What confuses you is the fact we did not go in immediately after the authorization.

LOL, I don't think some of you quite understand - Ron Paul's anti-war stance is NOT popular within the GOP, he's FAR more of an isolationist than what's "mainstream republican" - and I should know, because I am one - no death penalty for terrorists is what he believes in, we don't.

Of course, there was authorization for the war in Iraq - only a Ron Paul or a moveon supporter would claim otherwise.

Most Americans seem to have a propensity, if afforded the slightest opportunity, to wash their hands of the more complicated issues. Oh, sure, they will take the time to learn the keywords and catch phrases of their prefered spin doctors and talking heads (I like to call them fact manipulators) so they will be able to superficially explain why they think they are "on board" with a particular platform or another, but are generally happy to leave it at that and put their full faith in the "benevolent" agenda of the political advocates that have so deftly strummed their particular psychological sensibilities in order to gain their unfettered support. It's not so funny that many times people will show more loyalty to a political party than they will show their own spouse and family. It is this type of reasoning that allows these overlapping pseudo philanthropic NGO's (non-governmental organizations), with the openly stated official goal or the openly stated personal goals of their key officials of a one world government, such as the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), to be perceived as operating in the form of some sort of innocuous advisory commitee or ameliorating think tank. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The CFR is but one cog in what has become a massive gearbox trained on one world government. Make no mistake these overlapping NGO's, collectively, have very sharp and efficient teeth. The key players who make up the membership of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, the International Republican Institute, the Soros philanthropies, the Rockefeller Foundation, European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity, the Agency for International Development, the Canadian Rights and Democracy, the British Westminster Foundation for Democracy, the CFR, the Trilateral Commission, the Group of Thirty, The Carlyle Group, the Bilderberg Group, the Ford Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, the Earth Council, the World Economic Forum, the US National Endowment for Democracy, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the International Executive Service Corps, the Council of the Americas, the World Trade Organization and many, many others all share the same basic ultimate goals and would like nothing better than to see the various governments of the world (especially the United States) abdicate their national sovereignty in favor of a one world government. These people are the most affluent, well educated, powerful and influential people on the planet and they are already in charge of your money and your government and guess what; They don't share most of your personal priorities or concerns.

Most people don't want to hear that fact. They are perfectly content to assume that taxes, abortion, gun control, the environment, poverty, natural disasters, potential terrorist activities and renegade world leaders et al are the important issues that concern all rational people. The truth is that the globalist elite are only concerned with those things insofar as their ability to use them as stepping stones toward the ultimate goal of a one world government. The scoffers are right to a certain degree. There is no secret conspiracy. It's become a blatant, open, in your face, there's nothing you can do to stop it conspiracy and it's gaining advocates and momentum all the time.

This Republican administration has done more and continues to do more to advance the globalist agenda than any other administration in history and some people are still more concerned with the moral compass of the Democrats. The Republican claim to the moral high ground is a sham that has been exposed and well documented for quite some time and I'm astounded that there are still people so naive as to fall for it again and again.

Ron Paul is the only anti-globalist running. Is it a big surprise that the globalist controled media spin doctors have labled him a kook? The truely amazing thing to me is that the sheeple swallow it hook, line and sinker while they hide under the covers, remain intentionally uninformed and just repeat what they hear from their particular favorite political pundits.

"With the leaders of the academic and communications world assuming this sneering attitude towards the conspiratorial (or cause and effect) theory of history, it is not surprising that millions of innocent and well-meaning people, in a natural desire not to appear naive, assume the attitudes and repeat the cliches of the opinion makers. These persons, in their attempt to appear sophisticated, assume their mentors' air of smug superiority even though they themselves have not spent five minutes in study on the subject of international conspiracy".~Gary Allen (None Dare call it Conspiracy)
Globalism (The New World Order) is the new politically correct term for what is nothing more than a new paint job on the old Communism.

Get a grip, do some homework and vote ANTI-GLOBALIST.

The fact that God will have his way regardless of your actions does not release you from the responsibility of doing the right thing even if it doesn't fit with your old presuppositions that everything is what it seems; where the good guys wear white hats and the bad guys wear black hats and you can tell at a glance which is which. Now-a-days you really need to work at research and study more than your TV and local newpaper to know what's really going on.

With all that said I will stick with my predictions from March of 2006 that Hillary Clinton will be our next President and will be insturmental in helping divide Iraq in such a way as to eventually allow the formation of a new Assyrian state. I have also been saying since then that we will attack Iran. I think this might happen around the time of the elections when George Bush can declare a National Emergency and try to remain in power for a time. But those are not prophecies; just my thoughts.

Now, with the Senate declaring Iran's Republican Guard a formal terrorist organization ( voted against by 20 democrats and 2 republicans) The door has been flung wide open for Bush to carry his "War on Terrorism" over the border into Iran with the blessing of the Senate. Good day.

    God bless,
    Nick
