    Default The Manhattan Declaration

    Everyone:

I don't know if anyone caught Focus on the Family on Monday, (23 November), but Dr. Dobson had on Chuck Colson and Robert George, discussing the effort to gather at least one million signatures for the Manhattan Declaration, a document outlining Christian values like the sanctity of human life, traditional marriage and religious liberty.

Info on the FOTF show is here: A Manifesto for Righteousness

You can listen to the FOTF show here: Family Media Center

Here, you can download the document in .pdf form (See the link on the right side of the page): The Manhattan Declaration

You can sign the Declaration here: The Manhattan Declaration

please read the language on this. In signing it you are affirming that you hold Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians to be your brothers and sister in Christ. They have different gospels, different plans of salvations, different authority than the Word.....they deny the sufficiency and finished work of Jesus Christ. Different is NOT the same. Be very careful with something like this.....it is similar to the Evangelicals and Catholic together document......it denies Christ alone by faith alone by God's grace alone.

Default John MacArthur on the Manhattan Declaration

I have no King but Christ.

To pretend to describe the excellence, the greatness or duration of the happiness of heaven by the most artful composition of words would be but to darken and cloud it; to talk of raptures and ecstasies, joy and singing, is but to set forth very low
    Jonathan Edwards

OK -- after reading what John McArthur wrote, I now remember why I identify so closely with the Apostle Peter -- founding member of the "Foot-In-Mouth-Club-For-Christ."

    (Embarrassed silence)

So...any idea how I unsign that thing?

I know, I know, some things can't be "undone"...

    ...(Sigh)...

I suppose that you can figuratively unsign by convincing all of us to not sign it.
    - vv-vv- - - Now get on your podium! or stump which ever you prefer. ps I just cut down an 85 foot dead ash tree, and the stump is 27" diameter and over 3' tall!
    Remember.....Just going to
Church doesn't make you a Christian any more
Than standing in your garage makes you a
    Car.

KR McKay, keep in mind what happened to Paul when he stuck his hand into a wood pile to put some more wood on the fire and a VERY BAD snake bit him. NOTHING HAPPENED!!

This may not be a good example but, we as believers of Jesus Christ can be certain of the fact that, when we fall pray to "BEING HUMAN", as I call it, He's always there to clean up the "mess". Or, flat out, keep us from harm.

So, do NOT feel bad about yourself in ANY way regarding the signing of this document. ALL of us could state, there are probably MANY things in our past that we wish we would have NEVER done! Lord knows I can surely say that. Yet, He LOVES US STILL, just as we are, bumps and all. Thank the Lord for that !!!

Thanks, Mike, and I know that what you say is true.

I just hate to be a bonehead (which includes doing boneheaded things...like recommending something without FULLY investigating it first)!

I really do like, though, the reminder about Paul and the viper! Thanks!

It's meant to be confusing so don't feel gullible
Colson has been helping scoop evangelicals under the umbrella of Rome for the past 20 years
