Bill O'Reilly has one he promotes on his show and for the life of me, I can't recall the name, but it's on the tip.....when I think of it I'll tell you. We looked into it one time and it was OK.
    Are we there yet?

Denise, you might go to www.daveramsey.com. You are probably familiar with his daily radio broadcast. On the right sidebar under Trusted Local Providers, he has a link for health insurance along with other services, such as real estate, etc.
I listen frequently to his radio program and feel like I would trust his suggestions.

Depending upon their needs - they will need to shop around but I would recommend the following:

    1. Always check out the company with the Better Business Bureau and their license with the State licensing board to see if they have any complaints against them.
    2. As for the coverage: Cheapest is not always the best coverage.

If the monthly premium is low but the deductible is really high - that is fine if you are not planning on using it except for catastrophic.

Deductible - how much you need to pay out before they start to cover any expenses. Also it is important to note that the deductible only applies to covered expenses. Example: if they do not cover office visits - then your out of pocket expenses for the cost of office visits do not apply to the deductible. However if you have tests done and the tests are covered expenses - then your out of pocket costs for the tests go towards the deductible.

Pay attention to network and out of network criteria. Some won't cover anything out of their contract network and some are limited.

Just be sure to compare what the out of pocket, availablility of care (geographically and specialities) and what their anticipated needs are before getting involved with a plan.

BCBS has some nice plans that are well laid out to fit various needs.
The good thing about them is that they are not allowed to turn anyone down or away.

My experience in Human Resources has given me a lot of exposure to many of the advantages and disadvantages of most insurance plans.

I will do my best to help out if you have any specific concerns or questions.

We have Blue Cross Blue Shield. It cost a fortune, but praise God we have it. We have a cancer policy and it covers 100% of husband's treatments. Each treatment is around $5000. Each Neulasta shot is around $2000. We would be in a real mess without it.

    Good luck in your search.
