Default Is it just me, or do any of you get mad at Adam and Eve?

I don't know what it is, but sometimes when the "sweat on my brow" is more like I'm swimming in persperation, and the pain of life gets a bit ridiculous... I will yell up in the air something like the following:

"Adam, for being made so perfect with a perfectly working mind, you are such an idiot! Thanks a lot! I hope you feel bad about this!"

To be honest, sometimes what I say contain words I would blush to print here - and that the forum software would, no doubt, delete!

I just wondered if I am the only one who does this...

PS: If I am just crazy, then please move along... nothing to see here!

Long ago (well since 1985 anyway). I watched a little Christian movie about a man and wife where the husband was blaming his father for his problems/sins. The wife explained that his father was dead now so he owned the problems. That wasn't good enough for dh, and he said that had his dad raised him differently he wouldn't have that problem/character defect/sin. Wife finally said well your father can blame it on his father who can blame it on his father ... How far do you want to go back? To Adam and Eve?

Personally I find enough stuff to loose my wretched temper over that I can see and touch. But there are times when I wonder how the world would be without that original disobedience to God. You know no noxious mosquitoes, or weeds, poison ivy, being happy eating fruit and grain, no weather, not being swollowed by a giant fish.

Have I gotten upset over what happened with them in the garden? Of course!!! With everything that has happened (and is happening) to me, there are times felt like I could grab Adam and scream at him "WHAT DID YOU DO TO US???!!!!" But the thing is: any of us, in Adam and Eve's position and knowing what they knew at the time, would have made the same choice and done the same thing as they did. We can say "we would have not done that", but that's knowing what we know now. And that's how it is with sin; the consequences only become painfully clear afterwards.

Yes, Adam had a perfect mind, but he and Eve also had free will as well. That will decided to take the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil instead of listening to the Lord...

..and I'm sure that not only would they have done differently if they had it to do again, but Adam carried a very heavy burdern his whole life.

If memory serves, yes, there have been times I could have smacked Adam, but not over my own frustrations, but over those who will never reconcile with the Lord. For all that, I think just about all of us have deep frustrations. I am currently dealing with a very strange and very serious business deal thats in hot water, and everything I tried to wrench out of this life is pretty well dust. But then this is happening to people all over this country.

David, this is where perseverance in faith comes into play. This is where faith needs to start digging deep, and what we hope in gets tested. One of the most difficult trials of our faith is getting over prosperity preaching and learning what is real and why. This is where prayer digs deep, confessing frustration, fear and doubt and seeking the Lord's wisdom and the strengthening of the Holy Spirit. At some point, every sincere Christian goes through this, and how we deal with these things when they happen is going to either shape our faith or break us. I have seen both kinds of people in my time as a Christian. If you find it in your heart to serve the Lord because of Who He is, and what He stands for, rather than just seeking relief from whatever it is thats crushing you, you will mature into the man God is seeking to shape you to be. This stuff isn't easy. It can and it will take a piece out of you, but if you meet the challenge, you will find the profound depths of faith that you see some of us speaking of. I hope you make it.

I feel no anger because I know it was inevitable that, if tempted, Adam was going to put what God said to the test. Would I have done differently? I don't think so.

There are times when we are walking through such utter garbage that, maybe out of sheer frustration, we just have to let it out somehow. This is the absolute frustration where we strike out even at the ones we love. The frustration of feeling like we're at the end of our rope, where we just want it to stop. At times like these, if Adam showed his face, yeah, I'd love to slap him silly.

Adam and Eve walked and talked with the Lord in the Garden. Are you kidding me? Their minds had not been clouded yet, they literally talked with the Lord, but then they both decided to listen to a snake in the grass! This wasn't a one-time offer that they had to accept right at that moment. They could have at least, gone and checked it out with God first. Did it ever occur to them that none of the other animals spoke to them? What made this serpent so special that it could talk?

For having perfect minds, they were either terribly gullible, or Satan is far more cunning than we give him credit for.

And the joy we share as we tarry there,

I know I would have done the same thing, so cannot blame anything on Adam or Eve. I wouldn't mind having the perfect mind though.

I don't get mad at Adam per se...I make such idiotic mistakes sometimes that I can see just how easy it would be to have done the same thing....

But I want to know how Eve convinced Adam to eat the apple in the first place....I mean I can't even get my husband to put the toilet paper on the spindle!

Just be grateful he doesn't put the paper on the spindle; he'd probably install it backwards. (That's what I do!)

putting it on backwards can be a good thing when you have children, grandchildren and/or pets who like to investigate that hanging white toy that spins......

If Adam hadn't done it, it would probably have been me. Can you even begin to imagine how they felt when their spirit died and they lost most of everything in their glorious bodies that they had before they sinned? They lived a very long time and could remember how it was..........how heartbroken they must have been. I don't know how they were able to bear it.

Man,it is a great mystery to me how it is possible, given the wonderful environment God gave to Adam and Eve,the fact that The Lord had fellowship with them and that He gave them great bodies and abundance of blessings, well,we know they blasted it!
I am not mad at Adam and Eve,I do not think that I am any better than they were.....proof? I am saved but I still sin KNOWING it is sin....and what costed our Savior to pay the price for my salvation....
It is true I am not in God's image, rather in Adam's after the fall...still,I cannot pass judgment..I am just very glad that JESUS solved the salvation issue, because I know I could NOT save myself just like I couldnt now keep myself saved unless His Grace and Provision.....
After all there is THE MYSTERY of INIQUITY at work.....
we have to wait until we are with The Lord to understand the why of all.....me think

Thanks, great reply - I guess it should be satan we are all mad at....

But here is the thing, which you pointed out jesuschangesall, I sit there looking at his Blood stained face saying "I'm sorry" While I keep pounding nails into his hands and feet. Every day.

    A sobering thought.

Hi, SonSeeker! I have often wondered whether in the beginning animals could communicate with Adam and Eve. In the perfection of God's creation, communication might have been not only through spoken language, but thought itself, and it is even possible Adam and Eve could understand the meanings of the sounds of their animal friends in the Garden. Maybe they didn't find it unusual for the serpent to talk to them because it wasn't unusual... maybe animals could indeed communicate with them.
