Can someone explain in layman terms Nibiru?

What is Nibiru? Is it a plant or meteor that's going to strike earth? Is it New Age stuff? Just trying to figure out if this is something I need to be aware of, or hit the delete button on. I am wondering if this this lines up Biblically.

It is a hoax from the mind of an Azerbaizani immigrant to America who has been doing quite well for himself selling books about things such as "Nibiru".

Nibiru does not exist. Never has, never will. There are many sites that debunk sitchin's "work". Here are quotations from one of them:

"The planet "Nibiru" has a unique place in the constellation of 2012 claims. It's never been detected, cannot exist, and even if it was real (according to its promoter) isn't actually supposed to arrive until decades or even centuries after 2012.

Maybe this will help some to understand the underlying evil principalities behind Nibiru-Elenin and planet X and why Christians should never even give one iota of credence to anything they say or promote. Truth Inspires Prophecy: Ufo's, Elenin, and the Age of what???

Sounds like people have been reading those non -biblical books like Left behind,and those who teach this non-sense on asteroids hitting earth..I have been studying prophecy for 20 years i have yet to read of a asteroid coming...BTW its suppose to hit around July 21...

Yes, I saw it was supposed to hit July 21st, and I thought: "hmmm, is this something I need to look into?" Then I wikipediaed it, & half of what was written I didn't understand, plus it was LONG. Figured it was some new age-y thing, but wasn't sure if it was a planet or dimension.....or what the heck. Anywhoo, thank you. I'm not going to bother reading any planet X, nibiru stuff.
