Just Wanted To Share...

This past week we, the drivers with the Company I drive for, found out some troubling news. In the not too far distant future, seems we'll be getting cameras added to this new computer system we have on our trucks. That'll be 2 cameras on the inside, 2 cameras on the outside, and one "radar" device on our front grill.

We're joining with 2 other Companies around the country that are spear heading a program by the GOVERNMENT, PAID for by the Government, to supposedly help with safety regarding big trucks on the road.

These "cameras" will be able to see and HEAR everything around us, in and outside the truck. ALSO! Along with the College that's collecting this "safety" information, Homeland Security and FEMA will be able to monitor all this info as well.

That's 3 Trucking Companies scattered pretty much all over the country that will have monitoring devices that can hear and see pretty much everything going on around these trucks! And, with Homeland Security and FEMA monitoring, well, just makes me a little uneasy about all this.

No seriously, I do wonder if this is going to become commonplace shortly. There are cameras almost everywhere now in public places.

Considering that my dad is probably going to lose his job with the state patrol because a trucker was driving 70 on a sheet of ice and caused a huge accident and the state is using him as a scapegoat, I can't really argue with this. I'm not saying you are one of those truckers that drives like they own the road, but I have seen way too many driving like they don't care about other people on the road.

FWIW, he was parked on the side of the road, nowhere near the truck when the truck lost control.

Bro! What an excellent opportunity! Have your radio or CD player preaching the gospel or playing good old gospel songs and hymns every second you are in your truck. (I'm guessing you already do.) Who know what "monitor" of your truck will be touched by the gospel he hears because you love Christ! \o/ \o/

Nillapoet, I do understand your concerns. Ths is one of the reasons I came off the road driving cross country. I just do not like the drivers that are out there today. Actually, looking forward to retirement to be truthful.

Matt54, the cb in my truck is one thing I gave up a LONG time ago. It's just gargage out there now and the cb radio is a bastion of, well, let's just leave it at that; garbage!

I consider myself a professional in what I do. I take pride in my job, my appearance, and how I do my job. In my 30 plus years of driving, I've had the pleasure of meeting, and getting to know, some great people out there. And, on the other side, some I'd rather forget. But what's going on out there these days is a disaster waiting to happen on just about every highway and by-way you drive on.

So, as I said, I can understand someone's concerns about the drivers out there these days...

I maintain that since we have nothing to hide, let 'em watch! These days, weirdos are seeking places to hide, and over the road trucking is plagued by both weirdos driving and weirdos harassing drivers. Then there's the drug smuggling, and I suspect the government is concerned and rightly so, about violent islamists using traditional drug smuggling techniques and routes to smuggle weapons. Besides, I love Matt's idea about using the cameras and mikes to spread the Gospel.

They've been watching for sometime. They can turn on your cell phone and listen to you or flip on your computer's camera and check you out.

All you need to do on your cell phone is use one of the phrases or words they monitor and NSA is listening in. If I'm not mistaken, they're recording everyone's cell phone conversations and check for these "special" words.

Of course we have nothing to hide but...it's still kinda creepy that we are
losing much of our freedoms and privacy. We may say "oh well, I'm a
conscientious, law-abiding citizen with nothing to hide so let them spy on
me. Once you go down that slippery slope, there is no going back. We
may not mind now but we may someday. Good idea that Adrian has for
using it for witnessing though.

My husband is a trucker and the rules and regulations being imposed on truckers are getting so ridiculous that it is getting harder and harder for a trucker to even make a decent living and it is driving up the cost of goods as the companies have to implement and work with all the unnecessary regulations.

Nillipoet, it is a shame and I am truly sorry to hear that your dad has to suffer for one irresponsible trucker but I could also tell you some truckers I know that lost their lives due to irresponsible 4-wheelers. Irresponsible people are in any job across the world. Squad cars usually have cameras, so why didn’t the camera in your dad’s squad show him to be blameless? You can put every tool known to man in place but it is never going to work to prevent the irresponsible, but giving the government one more tool to monitor our every move is very troubling.

How would any of you like to be watched 24/7? Sometimes truckers are forced to pull over and go potty in the truck, is this going to be monitored too? Truckers live, dress and function in their truck.

Truckers used to be the best people in world to stop and aid a stalled car or at an accident. Now they are so regulated, they can’t stop to help. And there are a lot more good and caring truckers out there then people are made to believe! Many like MikeD and my husband that are good Christian men just trying to make a living. But more and more of the good experienced drivers are leaving and selling their trucks because the regulations and pay doesn't make it worth it anymore! My hubby is like MikeD, he is 59 years old and has been in trucking 39 years but he now just wants to retire and get out of it. And that is what is happening, all the regulations are forcing the good, experienced drivers out and bringing in the inexperienced.

LivnForChrist is correct, it may start with the truckers but it is a slippery slope until all of our freedoms and privacy are gone.

I get this notion and it come to my mind kinda suddenly
that some of the conspiracy type things played a prominent role in the bring about of this . Now I am all for corruption being busted any manner it has to get done ,but to ride it in on the back side of a debunked or unknown is troubling

actually they are quite worried about water supply in the future which kinda wont matter to much if we wind up with Tsunami's and Ark storms like they say will happen (as if they know it for sure ) they never informed the cows not to fertilize the water the four legged were just trying to help it grow

maybe they will pick a new name other than mad cow in the future
