    Default Superbowl halftime..

Any thoughts about tonights Superbowl halftime perfomance by Madonna? Her "show" painted a very clear picture of where this world is and what its about now. The last song with the performers in choir robes was truly frightening. RT

I think Madonna is someone I NEVER want to see perform!

I notice a lot of occult symbolism during the performance.
But, the way she ended "Like A Prayer" by dropping into a smoking pit was, um, something else...

I have little ones so I turned it before half-time. I remember when Like A Prayer came out, the video had raised the ire of many because of the inappropriate content. I'm not sorry I missed it.

During half-time I baked some chicken wings and Mike worked on the computer. Neither one of us cared about seeing Madonna.

That was the thing that jumped out at me too. Oddly enough there was one commercial that had virtually the same feature.

I guess pseudo-spirituality is in right now.

Not really a fan of major sporting events anyway. Not sad I missed this one bit. Not that I'd suprised by anything that Madonna would be doing anyway. With some of her songs and performances, well look at Lady Gagya and some of the other performers who have come before and after her. BTW that's my name for "Lady" Gaga, Lady Gagya. Cause to me she just causes me to gag. The fact that people were defending her choice of language in a recent song wasn't so suprising, I mean the "f" word is such eloquence of language. Sarcasm intended. I myself may have used some such language in my past, but I make a concentrated effort not to.

When I watched her "grand entrance"--my first thought was "W-hore of Babylon". I flipped channels about the time the old decrepit thing nearly fell off a bleacher trying to stand on it.

I watched the game, but not the half-time. I can no longer bring myself to watch that type of hedonistic display. (That means ALL half-time shows, not just Madonna. She is just among the worst of the bad.) After all, God tells us to think on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, whatever is excellent, and whatever is worthy of praise. (Philippians 4:8) Yet we allow ourselves to watch crap on TV and at the movies, being subtly desensitized to corruption in many ways. (There are good TV shows and good films, but they are very rare.) We have forgotten how to "deny ourselves" and how to "turn from the things of darkness". We would never go to a strip club, or get drunk or high, or engage in Satanism or dishonest practices ... but we watch them. What does Romans 1 say about those who "take pleasure in these things"? Satan has gotten us to the point where we are like people drinking little bits of poison because it tastes good. But that poison is slowly corrupting all who drink it. No wonder there is no power in the Church today!!!

In any case, from what has been described on this thread plus the news item I saw of MIA's bird flip, I am sure that all true Christians who happened to watch the show had a partial unveiling of the evil that grips this world. More and more the veil is slipping and we are seeing the truth of the "spirit of this world" revealed. The thing, though, is that it is still mainly veiled. Can you imagine what it will be like when the Church is gone????

Let's hear it for DVR! We record what we want to watch, then fast fwd through all the ads and halftimes, especially when the halftimes are starring someone of Madonna's stature.
Ephesians 5:18 (New King James Version)

18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

I Come To The Garden Alone Hymn

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
    And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
    None other has ever known.

My wife and I was at church services, our pastor is/or has been going on the Book of Revelations the past few months; going thru each chapter. I did'nt see the half time only caught the last 2 minutes of the game. I had rather go worship than watch football, MHO.

There was one girl at work who was defending the performer who was flipping people off onstage. I won't use the language she was using, but I do wonder how she would have felt if someone walked up to her and flipped her off. I doubt she would have liked that too much. I know what it means and in times of weakness I have done and said things I am not too proud of. Though not now. Desentisizing is right. Most so called comedians can't go through a single performance without using language that would make drunken sailors blush. The music out there is another are where people have become more and more accepting of things that are by no means family friendly. Definitely not christ like. But it makes money, so I guess that is what is important right? Had one girl at work that said after I was discussing part of my Chrstian faith at work, "That's never put money in my pocket". Paper rots, and metal rusts. We were and are commanded not to store up our treasures on Earth.
