Evolution

Ok so I just bought my Year 12 Biology book and there is a couple of chapters on Evolution. I looked through it and read most parts of it and it is hard to argue against it. It talks about the evolution of animals and how there are so many animals and how humans are related to monkeys/apes/gorillas. It's very convincing but at the same time I know it's nonsense. I'm torn at the moment. I love God and I've been looking forward to Heaven for a long time, and this evolution theory is killing me, because what if it is true? I'm not saying it is but what if? I pray to God everyday to show me a sign to erase any doubt I have but he hasn't shown me anything. I will continue to pray so God helps me out and with 2012 coming up I need all the help I can get from him.

Point of this thread is tell me or show me something that Evolution is nothing but a theory and that God is with us. I feel like crying because I can't imagine my life without God.

Go to ICR and AiG, those two websites have more than enough material for learning honest science and defending the faith.

Scripture declares the man that denies God's existence is a fool. It also declares The Lord confounds the so-called wisdom of man.

Go to Scripture. God's word never changes, whereas your school textbooks are always changing. They are designed to destroy your faith and make you stupid and keep you childish so that you are always dependent on government and the priests of science.

Are you sure you read we came from apes? Evolution teaches we came from a missing link, one link went to man, the other to apes; of course that missing link takes faith for the scientists; and science cannot prove any creature moved up to become a different creature; that takes science faith as well (they call it millions of years) there is a lot of lateral movement but no vertical change; science faith is needed to make your science book's chapter on evolution work.

I don't know about that. He lead you here didn't He? In my experience, prayer is very often answered in a way we didn't expect.

The theory of evolution can be quite convincing because we know for a fact that living things can and do in fact adapt and change (evolve) to better cope with a changing environment such as pests that become resistant to pesticides.

But the truth is that evolution theory has been quietly falling apart for about 50 years now but because there is nothing God-free to replace it with they continue to teach it.

The main problem is in what is called abiogenesis or inanimate matter spontaneously becoming alive and able to reproduce itself. In short science is learning that this absolutely necessary element of the theory is flat out impossible. Speaking from an agnostic point of view, however life started on planet earth it WASN'T how they currently insist on teaching it to you.

Here's a fairly simple argument against evolution, Chelsea. The orangutan is one of the smartest monkeys on Earth today. But I once saw an orangutan with an ostrich egg, and the silly ape couldn't figure out how to get the egg open! (Simple, smash it with a rock). There is nothing in science that even begins to make a credible connection between any monkey's level of intelligence and that of even the least of humans, there is a very critical difference in the average abilities of humans and the smartest animal anyone can point up. Furthermore, the evolutionary theory requires the presence of whats called a regressive gene. What that means is that somewhere deep in the complexity of DNA, there must remain a seed, however small, of the base species from which the modern type allegedly evolved, and that sooner or later, an individual will be born with the regressive gene active. This theory simply doesn't work in practice in any species at all period. That right there is a major flaw in the scientific reasoning of the evolutionary theory and there are probably other good examples of glaring flaws that defeat the assumption of evolution that I am not aware of. For these reasons and others, any objective thinker will eventually end up rejecting evolution, which I did indeed reject myself, a good 15 years or more before I became a Christian. Evolution simply does not bear close scrutiny.

Chelsea, if you can get your hands on a copy of The Case For A Creator by Lee Strobel, you will find that the eminent scientists in it absolutely destroy evolutionary theory and show why. They then make the "case for a creator". The paperback is available through Christian bookstores or the library. I know christianbook.com sells it for $5.49.
