Now don't panic. Let me put this out there for everyone to tear apart, but let's kick this around.
God is not our Father, He is our Father in Law.
A Father in Law's love is conditional. it depends on how you treat His child. (Sound Familiar?)
Mary was not (spiritually) the mother of Jesus, Israel is. (That makes her our Mother in Law.)
What is a better explanation for how she has been treated than she is our Mother in Law?
Just like we the Church are the Bride of Christ, Israel is the Bride of the Father.
God still loves her (Israel) with all his heart. She is the love of His life, and He will bless those that bless her, and He will curse those who curse her.
We should pray not only for her physical peace here on earth but her spiritual peace between her and her Husband. Since she has cheated on Him with other gods. Now I think God has forgiven Israel, but they are still legally separated. (I can't wait for the Temple to be rebuilt so those two can move back in together!) As members of the Bride of Christ, we should, love and honor the members of the Bride of God.
Now a thought on Prayer.
Jesus said to pray this way: Beginning with "Our Father" and ending "In Jesus Name." But he was talking to the Jews. (His Mom) Ask Dad in My name. Even when a marriage is broken, if the mother asks the father for something for the child, the father will give it to her. I can only imagine the power of the prayers that would be unleashed if the Jews began praying to the Father in Jesus name!
As a member of the Bride of Christ it seems to me that a marriage would not last long, if your wife went to your dad for everything she wanted. And at the end of Matthew, Jesus said All power in Heaven and Earth has been given to me.
So shouldn't we pray TO Jesus....and end with "For the glory of the Father in Heaven"? Asking a husband for something that would honor His name and His Fathers. (also this puts onus on us to make sure what we are asking for will Honor His Father)
Sorry about this, Just using my imagination and thinking out loud. (relaese the hounds)
