    Cross Sir Issac Newton

Have just read a bit about Issac Newtons interest in bible prophecy and its remarkable, for a man to be living in the 1600s this would have been seen as heresy and probably would have him killed.
Absolutley brilliant he has even worked out a date for the end times and according to him wait for it, 2012 ( am not saying he is right, and even he says he does not date set )
Apparently he studied 50 yrs of his life with theology and bible prophecy, here is just a little taster......

“Let me therefore beg of thee not to trust to the opinion of any man
    concerning these things . . . . search the scriptures thyself . . . if thou
desirest to find the truth. Which if thou shalt at length attain thou
wilt value above all other treasures . . . search into these scriptures
which God hath given to be a guide . . . and be not discouraged by
the gainsaying which these things will meet with in the world.
“They will call thee it may be a hot-headed fellow, a Bigot, a Fanatic,
a Heretic, etc.: and tell thee of the uncertainty of these interpretations,
and vanity of attending to them: Not considering that the prophesies
concerning our Savior’s first coming were of more difficult interpreta-
tion, and yet God rejected the Jews for not attending better to them.
And whither they will believe it or not, there are greater judgments
hang over the Christians for their remissness than ever the Jews yet
felt. But the world loves to be deceived, they will not understand, they
never consider equally, but are wholly led by prejudice, interest, the
praise of men, and authority of the Church they live in . . . . There are
but FEW that seek to understand the religion they profess, and those
that study for understanding therein, do it rather for worldly ends,
or that they may defend it, than . . to examine whether it be true
with a resolution to choose and profess that religion which in their judgment appears the truest. . . .
“And when thou art convinced be not ashamed to profess the truth.
For otherwise thou mayst become a stumbling block to others, and
inherit the lot of those Rulers of the Jews who believed in Christ
but yet were afraid to confess him lest they should be put out of the
Synagogue. Wherefore when thou art convinced be not ashamed of
the truth but profess it openly and endeavor to convince thy Brother
also that thou mayst inherit at the resurrection the promise made in
Daniel 12:3, that they who turn many to righteousness shall shine
as the stars for ever and ever. And rejoice if thou art counted worthy
to suffer in thy reputation or any other way for the sake of the Gospel,
for then great is thy reward”

Hang on, I always heard Newton was anti-trinitarian, and in fact believed the end was in 2060.

Yes newton did not beleive in the trinity however the 2060 did not take account of certain things but when other things came to light they found that actually the year he was talking about was actually 2012. Have the full article but is too long to go on here.

Well I've come across many sites and people (atheists really) who claim that Newton was an atheist. Which reminds me, most of the atheists I've run into; online and elsewhere, never seem to be all that happy. Like their might be something missing in their lives...

Interesting date to for him to predict. Almost always the date is within the generation of the one making the prediction.

Yes that is true, amazing to think he did this 400 yrs ago, I am absolutly gobsmacked that a scientist of his calibre would do such a thing ( am not saying he is right ) just saying its wonderful to know there were such people around its very humbling actually.

I hate when people say things they don't know about. Issac Newton wrote and published more books on the Bible than he did with science! Now that's something!
Only thing is he maybe have had Arian tendencies....though I am still not sure about this.... He also set a date of creation at like the date 3998 B.C. or something like that. So for an atheist he was well accomplished in believing the Bible wasn't he?
Sorry, I had to say something, I hadn't come across this thread until now
