To Know Him

I heard this story many years ago and it speaks to me so very loudly even to this day

there was this bible conference

and on the first day, there were three speaker's scheduled and the theme of the first day of the conference was the 23rd Psalms

each speaker was suppose to share "their take" on the passage

well the first minister was fresh out of bible college and had written the Psalm into a "cool hip hop" version and as he ministered his version through song an rap...all those in attendance..stood to their feet and and clapped and danced along

BUT following this young man's take of the psalm

they NEXT introduced a 90 year old ...."old time preacher"

he SLOWLY walked out ..with the aid of a cane and took the microphone ....

"Da Lord has always been my Shepherd, and even when I didn't have a nickel to change...I've never had to want....

when those hated me cuz the color of my skin, and a drink of water was afforded me not.. he calmed my soul for His name's sake"

the Church of God in Christ, Black Pentecostal preacher..shared his first hand account of what the 23rd Psalms had meant to his life

as he spoke, there was NOT a dry eye in the place

after he finished....he slowly walked ....cane in hand...off the stage

greeting him behind public view...was that young bible school graduate....."Pastor?........when I rapped the crowd broke into dance and jubilation, but you spoke and all the people broke....what was the difference?

"Young Man...you do know the Song....but how well do you really Know the Shepherd?"

John 17:3 JESUS SAID THIS IN PRAYER

"This is Eternal life, that You may know the Father and His Son Jesus Whom He Sent"

Mathew 22:37

This is the Greatest Commandment that you may love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and strength

How can you love someone you haven't got to know

David asked in Psalms 139...where can I go to Hide from God's Presence? .....YOU CAN KNOW GOD...He's right there where you are....and He will NEVER Leave You and He will NEVER Forsake You.....He's faithful to draw You ...to knock at the door of your Life and say "I will come in and answer You and show you things of which you don't know"

The Apostle Paul cried...."that I might KNOW HIM"

Let that be OUR CRY

I was ONCE a huge Michael Jordan fan.....I owned his jersey, I watched him from afar, I knew he was once cut from his highschool basketball team, that he went to the University of North Carolina...wore the number 23...made the game winning shot in the national championship against Georgetown

He was the 2nd player drafted.....He won 6 nba championships...had a bumper sticker, t shirt...BUT If I had ever walked into His presence and said "Hey Michael" He would have to say .."who are you?" I've never met him.....just admired him from afar

DON'T make the mistake of just studying about Jesus and let it keep You from KNOWING HIM

Mathew 7:21-23 says

21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

I could be at a golf tourney looking at Michael...."Hey Michael I have your Jersey, I know all your stat's, I have your dvd of greatest hits, I watched every game".....He could say to his body guards....."hey get rid of that dude, I have no idea who he is"

Do YOU KNOW JESUS? Really??? Please BE SURE......don't take it for granted

get on your knees ...KNOWING HIS WORD SAYS ....He's RIGHT THERE....and say "JESUS ...Here I am Lord.....KNOW ME!!!!"
