    Default Education Day and the 7 Laws of Noahide

    Ok this I have never heard of before and ran across it after recently.

    I searched the Forum and found nothing on it so can someone with more knowledge about it let me know your thoughts?

    The U.S. Congress officially recognized the Noahide Laws in legislation which was passed by both houses. Congress and the President of the United States, George Bush, indicated in Public Law 102-14, 102nd Congress, that the United States of America was founded upon the Seven Universal Laws of Noah, and that these Laws have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization. They also acknowledged that the Seven Laws of Noah are the foundation upon which civilization stands and that recent weakening of these principles threaten the fabric of civilized society, and that justified preoccupation in educating the Citizens of the United States of America and future generations is needed. For this purpose, this Public Law designated March 26, 1991 as Education Day, U.S.A.

    Also on the Sanhedrin website it speaks of a movement for non-jews of the world.

    Jerusalem Court for Issues of Bnei Noah

    This court has been set up to serve the needs of B'nei Noach worldwide. Judaism does not view itself as a universal religion, instead it sees itself as a national faith. This is understood within the context of the Jewish teaching that there are seventy nations or groups of people in the world. Each group of people must develop its own form of worship, unique to its own character. There is however a basic minimum common to all proper faiths, and this is the Noahide teachings. The Sanhedrin, through this court, is required to play a role in helping to clarify these most basic teachings, and each group of people in turn must set up its own religious court to expand, develop and adapt these laws to fit the needs of its community of believers.

    New to me, too, sis. I note that the Congressional resolution was in honor of rabbi Schneerson on his 91st birthday (being also the 91st years of the 20th century. In fact it reads: Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That March 26, 1991, the start of the ninetieth year of Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, leader of the worldwide Lubavitch movement, is designated as `Education Day, U.S.A.'. The President is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities. And it does in its preamble make specific reference to the 7 Noahide laws.

    As to all of those Jewish references, I note that they are the product of rabbinical thinking and we know the rabbis are blinded for the time being to the truth of God and His Word. Their idea that God's revelation of Himself in the Bible is only for Israel and that the 70 (according to their thinking) other nations of the world need to find their own way to God is totally unscriptural. In fact it is anti-Scriptural and thus utter nonsense.

    As to the "Noahide law", the precepts are scriptural and worth accepting, as were the Ten Commandments given to Moses a thousand years or so later. But I know you agree that nothing can be gained by an attempted external obedience to any scriptural law through the efforts of the flesh; only the internal obedience that stems from the Presence of the Living God inside us can bring about that sanctification we all so earnestly desire.

    The seven laws listed by the Tosefta and the Talmud are[3]

    1. Prohibition of Idolatry: You shall not have any idols before God.
    2. Prohibition of Murder: You shall not murder. (Genesis 9:6 )
    3. Prohibition of Theft: You shall not steal.
    4. Prohibition of Sexual promiscuity: You shall not commit any of a series of sexual prohibitions, which include adultery, incest, bestiality and anal sex between males (homosexuality).
    5. Prohibition of Blasphemy: You shall not blaspheme God's name.
    6. Dietary Law: Do not eat flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive. (Genesis 9:4, as interpreted in the Talmud (Sanhedrin 59a )
    7. Requirement to have just Laws: Set up a governing body of law (eg Courts)

    For those who were wondering.

    Act 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things:
    ct 15:29 that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.

    God Bless,
    mik
    If we can no longer trust words to be the faithful vessels to carry our thoughts to another person's mind, then our efforts to preach the true gospel become mired in a swamp of indistinct verbiage. As Paul said, "if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?" And who in the world will be able to distinguish the foe from the protectors and purveyors of the truth?

    Something of even more interest:

    The Encyclopedia of Judaism locates the Noachide Laws in the Talmud Bavli, the Babylonian Talmud.

    [NOTE: On the Babylonian Talmud (T.B.), the following statement is representative Jewish scholarship: "There are two editions of the Talmud, the Jerusalem Talmud and the Babylonian Talmud. Of these two, the Babylonian Talmud is authoritative for Orthodox Judaism, which regards it as divinely inspired... The superiority of the Babylonian Talmud is so great, that when people now talk about the Talmud, they always mean the Babylonian Talmud. The authority of the Babylonian Talmud is also greater than that of the Jerusalem Talmud. In cases of doubt the former is decisive."] 5.

    The Noachide Laws - The Encyclopedia of Judaism

    (1) Civil justice [the duty to establish a legal system];
    (2) Prohibition of blasphemy [which includes the bearing of false witness];
    (3) The abandonment of idolatry;
    (4) The prohibition of incest [including adultery and other sexual offenses];
    (5) The prohibition of murder;
    (6) Also that of theft;
    (7) The law against eating flesh [a limb] cut from a living animal [ie., cruelty in any shape or form] (T.B. Sanh. 56A)

    The Talmud also states the penalty for disobedience: "One additional element of greater severity is that violation of any one of the seven laws subjects the Noahide to capital punishment by decapitation. (Sanh. 57A)"

    It has been pointed out that the second Noahide Law which prohibits blasphemy will preclude the worship of Jesus Christ, who was once accused of this very crime by the Sanhedrin.
    Moses Maimonides (Rabbi Moshe Ben Maimon - 11381204), better known as the Rambam, is universally recognized for his preeminence as a Jewish philosopher and thinker. His influence remains unabated until the present time. Maimonides classic work, Mishnah Torah, opens with a section on systematic philosophical theology, derived largely from Aristotelian science and metaphysics.

    Maimonides Mishnah Torah, in Chapter 10 of the English Translation, states concerning Jesus Christ:
    "It is a mitzvah [religious duty; ARC], however, to eradicate Jewish traitors, minnim, and apikorsim, and to cause them to descend to the pit of destruction, since they cause difficulty to the Jews and sway the people away from God, as did Jesus of Nazareth and his students, and Tzadok, Baithos, and their students. May the name of the wicked rot." 6.

The President is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities. Education and Sharing Day is a day made by the United States Congress in honor of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson the Lubavitcher Rebbe's (1902-1994) efforts for education and sharing for Jews and non-Jews alike. During his lifetime the Rabbi opened scores of centers of education called "Chabad Houses". The day was inaugurated April 18, 1978, by President Jimmy Carter and has since been proclaimed, by the presiding President, annually on the Jewish birthday of Menachem Mendel Schneerson (11 Nissan). In 2009 it was marked on April 5.[1]

    President George W. Bush wrote in his proclamation on Education and Sharing Day 2007:
    "Education and Sharing Day honors the legacy of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson and emphasizes our commitment to teach the next generation of Americans the values that make our country strong. The Lubavitcher Rabbi believed that society should 'make a new commitment to kindness,' and he helped to establish education and outreach centers offering social service programs and humanitarian aid around the world."

    President Barack Obama wrote in his proclamation on Education & Sharing Day 2009:
    "Few have better understood or more successfully promoted these ideas than Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who emphasized the importance of education and good character. Through the establishment of educational and social service institutions across the country and the world, Rabbi Schneerson sought to empower young people and inspire individuals of all ages. On this day, we raise his call anew."[2]

    The 1991 bill described the Noahide Laws as the "ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our great Nation was founded".[3]

    President George W. Bush called upon "government officials, educators, volunteers, and all the people of the United States to reach out to young people and work to create a better, brighter, and more hopeful future for all."

    Now I know why I became a writer and not a mathematician! I guess it would have been on his 89th birthday, not his 91st.

    well he's dead now anywayz

    Something that really caught my attention too is this paragraph

    Bar-Ron said he had mixed feelings as he departed for the meetings with the B'nei Noach leaders, as he left the day the forced expulsion of Jews from Gaza began. "I was in such a horrible heart-wrenching pain about leaving - I almost felt like a traitor to our people. But I realized then that although the government was detaching itself from the Land of Israel - a partial annulment of our covenant with G-d, similar to the sin of the ten spies - there is another aspect of the covenant that has not been pursued. That aspect is our obligation to be a nation of priests unto the nations. This is the core of the covenant with Abraham and it is something the Jewish people as a nation has not involved itself in since Second Temple times. So as the government disengaged from the covenant, I was participating in the reengagement with an aspect of the covenant that has been dormant."

    Daniel 9:27

    27"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."
