Why Didn’t Mary Have An Abortion?
The title of this newsletter is an interesting question that made me think recently. While I was speaking recently in Connecticut, I spent two mornings in front of abortion clinics preaching the gospel with a group of believers. There were probably ten to fifteen of us each morning trying to persuade the ladies not to murder their child, and the men not to pay for that murder. One gentleman that was out there one day was 82 years old. For decades, he has been trying to persuade women to make the right decision about their unborn babies.

A lot of things from those mornings have stuck in my head. The hatred spewed at us from one abortionist was amazing. One lady went speeding past us as she pulled into the clinic, and almost hit one of the kids who was out with us. The police had to get involved in that one. Cars would pass by, honk their horns, and then flip us off. Why people would have such hatred for people trying to save babies is beyond me.

One of the instances that stuck with me the most was at one clinic where there were escorts who would take the ladies from the sidewalk or their cars, and escort them into the building. People in our group referred to them as ‘deathscorts’ since they were escorting the women in to murder their child. What really stood out to me was that these escorts were college students. Four college students, out early in the morning, escorting women to kill their babies. Then I was even more stunned to find out that they were from a ‘christian’ college, and they received community service hours for this ‘escorting’ service! How in the name of God have we fallen so far in this country that we would encourage college students to help people murder their children and then give them credit for it??

But despite all of the negative attention, we did have a lot of people who would stop and talk with us before they walked into the clinic. Many took literature. I asked the ladies, “Are you glad that your mother allowed you to be born?” They always answered ‘yes.’ Then I said, “Make sure your baby can say the same thing one day!” That statement seemed to really connect with a lot of the women.

One lady came out of the clinic crying big time. She must have gone through with the abortion. We let her know that whatever she did, she can be forgiven of that act. A female friend of the ministry told me, “Women are always upset after they get an abortion. You never see anyone leave a clinic post-abortion not crying. But you don’t usually cry after medical procedures, so why are they crying if they didn’t just take a life? It’s because God created women to know. It’s that motherly instinct, and they know that they are killing their child, but they are selfish, and they do it anyway.”

One Hispanic couple that was walking in to the clinic wouldn’t talk with me, but I was not sure they understood English, so I called over one of our Hispanic ladies, and she began talking with them, but they still went into the clinic. About a half an hour later, the young man came out of the clinic and began walking down the street. Two of our Hispanic women started walking with him and talking with him about what he was doing. All of the sudden, he ran into a Subway restaurant, so I went down the street and went into the same restaurant. He was buying a sub sandwich. I was stunned. Your girlfriend is committing murder; you are probably paying for it, and you are buying a sandwich? That just amazed me. So I pulled out my credit card to buy it for him. He wouldn’t let me do it. I told him Jesus said it is more blessed to give than receive, and I was going to bless him today. He still tried to pay, but I wouldn’t let the lady take his money. All of the sudden, tears welled up in his eyes. I got the feeling he had never been blessed like that before. The ladies told me outside that they were praying that I would represent a father figure to him because he may not have had one. After he took his sandwich and walked out the door, the ladies told me his whole countenance had changed. He seemed much more humble. He went back in the clinic, and thirty minutes later, he and his girlfriend walked out the door and didn’t choose to murder their baby on that day! Praise the Lord!!

I was watching a DVD recently called “Maafa 21: Black Genocide in the 21st Century.” It is about the fact that Planned Parenthood to this day still puts a majority of their clinics in low income areas. Black women account for 12% of the population, but have 37% of the abortions. The DVD stated that abortion kills as many blacks in four days that the Ku Klux Klan did in 150 years! So do you think that Satan and Planned Parenthood have been targeting black children?

The DVD also stated, “Since 1973, legal abortions have killed more African-Americans than AIDS, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and violent crime combined. Every week more blacks die in American abortion clinics than were killed in the entire Vietnam War. And the largest chain of abortion clinics in the United States is operated by Planned Parenthood.” So it seems fairly obvious that Satan is trying to kill an entire people group made in God’s image, but if you remember correctly, killing babies isn’t new. Herod was killing babies around the time of Jesus birth because he didn’t want the Messiah to come, and now we have babies being murdered all across the world before the return of Jesus Christ.

All of this got me thinking. Wouldn’t Mary have been the prime candidate in all of history to murder her child? She was trying to tell people that she had never slept with a man, and that God had come upon her to conceive her child. I bet that story went over well with her family and friends. You know people were gossiping that she had slept with Joseph. Wouldn’t she have been a prime candidate to get rid of that child? Of course in the world’s eyes, probably yes, but when you serve God, His ways are always much better than the world’s ways.

And what does God say about what He is doing inside a mother’s womb?

    Psalm 22:10 says,
“I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.”

    Psalm 127:3 states,
“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”

    Psalm 139:13 says,
“For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”

    Isaiah 44:24 states,
“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;”

    Jeremiah 1:5 says,
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”

If Jeremiah was ordained from the womb, you can be rest assured that Jesus Christ was as well! Mary knew that. Mary knew that someone very special was inside of her. Murdering that child was not even an option. If you are a woman and if you have been, are, or ever will be pregnant, you can also be rest assured someone very special is inside of you. That person is made in the image of God. Do not murder that child! Men don’t pay for the murder of a child!

So as many of you celebrate the birth of Jesus this season, be very thankful that Mary gave birth to that Child, and please pray that women and men today would make that same decision with their babies as well.

Why didn't Mary have an abortion:

Luke 1:30 And the angel said said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God
Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the trhone of his father
    David.
Luke 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost hall come upon thee, and the powe of the Highest shall l overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Also Mary knew how blessed she was by the following verses:

Luke 1:46 Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
Luke 1:47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

    An Interesting Quiz

How would you respond in these situations?

    1. A preacher and his wife are very, very poor. They already have 14 kids. Now she finds out she’s pregnant with the 15th. They’re living in tremendous poverty. Considering their poverty and the excessive world population, would you consider recommending she get an abortion?

    2. The father is sick with sniffles, the mother has TB. Of their four children, the first is blind, the second has died, the third is deaf, the fourth has TB. She finds she’s pregnant again. Given this extreme situation, would you consider recommending abortion?

    3. A white man raped a 13-year-old black girl and she’s now pregnant. If you were her parents, would you consider recommending abortion?

    4. A teenage girl is pregnant. She’s not married. Her fiancé is not the father of the baby, and he’s upset. Would you recommend abortion?

In the first case, you would have killed John Wesley, one of the great evangelists in the 19th century. In the second case, you would have killed Beethoven. In the third case, you would have killed Ethel Waters, the great black gospel singer. If you said yes to the fourth case, you would have declared the murder of Jesus Christ!

God is the author of life, and He has givenevery single individual supreme value. Each life—whether inside or outside the womb—should therefore be valued by us. God knows the plans He has for each individual and has written in His book all the days ordained for us before one of them came to be. When we presume to know better than God who should be given life, we are putting ourselves in the place of God and are guilty of idolatry.
It's a touchy subject for me....the feelings of outrage and helplessness in the face of it and the dangers of sinful bitterness are great. Thank The Lord His grace, mercy and holiness are greater than our evil hearts and deeds. Praying for those poor mothers that are pressured and deluded into murdering their babies, and also for those that commit such abominations, that they may repent.

The quiz really does bring abortion into perspective. Thank you for posting it, micah.

The questions are easy to answer when you aren't in the situation ... but a lot harder when it is you that is affected. Those who find themselves in such positions have my sincere sympathy and my impassioned prayers. However, I more than anything pray they make the right decision and do not kill their child. Look at what the world would have lost had any of the parents in the quiz had an abortion!

Well, I'm a single man now, but long before I got saved I had a girlfriend....we were living in sin....and there was one time where she was worried she might be pregnant. At the time I told her there was no way I'd agree to an abortion, that if she was indeed pregnant then we would have to raise that child, and that was for life. For reasons known only to God, she wasn't blessed with a baby and in due time that relationship died out. Since getting saved a lot of my views have changed, and now I can honestly say I can't see any reason for any abortion at all. Even in cases of rape, commiting murder on the unborn cannot be justified, indeed the blessing of bringing a new life into the world kind of outweighs by far the heinous sin that brought that about. Of course, this is also an opportunity for God to work very powerfully in strengthening the parties concerned to repentance, forgiveness etc. As for saving the life of the mother....well, this is also a brilliant time to share the Gospel, it gets very poignant when you're staring death in the face. If she is saved, then she can trust in the Lord that if it is His will that the mother gets taken to Him, then so be it, He is more than powerful enough to look after the child, if they live. What if the baby is deformed or impaired? Well, another opportunity....for others to minister in love, and the child to live and be blessed by God. Remember, this is just a very short life, you can't compare a finite measurement with an infinite one. And who knows, perhaps the diagnosis was wrong, or perhaps God will heal that child or work miracles through them. There is no justification for killing any un-born child. Ok, it might be more difficult to let them live, but God's grace and power and mercy are enough; if He doesn't want someone born, there is nothing anyone can do to thwart that. Murder is murder.

And as for a certain man that said he didn't want his daughter "punished with a baby", and provides tax money for others to murder the unborn, well, may the Lord have mercy on him. Perhaps the fact that his mother had him is punishment for some....

This touchy for me too. When I became pregnant unexpectedly with my daughter at age 17, my parents suggested abortion, and I even had a day planned when I was going to do it. But that day came, and I called the clinic and told them not to expect me. I just knew what I was going to do was wrong, and I still had time to correct it. I knew it was wrong even though I was unsaved and had no intention of being a Christian.

Now, whenever I hug my daughter, kiss her goodnight, or even see her, I feel like crying because of what I came so close to allowing be done to her.

Mary didn't abort Jesus because it's just plain wrong, and I assume she knew it. True, she could have had one, probably. Abortions did exist back then. But she didn't. And that's something I am very greatful for.

May the Lord bless and keep you and yours, Olga. Something that weighs on my heart at the moment is that I didn't mention the folks that already have had an abortion and may get attacked by the devil because of it. Please, if this is something nagging at you, remember how powerful the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth's death on that cross was:

    1 John 1:9
If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

Pray to Him for forgiveneness, He paid dearly to purchase this for all of us. Have no fear about the baby's soul, they are with Him.

    John 3:18
18 He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation--he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.]

Just thought that this was important for those folks reading this thread, that they can be assured of forgiveness if they humbly repent and just ask Him, that there is no condemnation from Him; but the devil will accuse and beat you up about it, his time is short and doom for him is certain.

    Romans 8:1-2
1 THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.
