Should believers fear it?
Hi Keith....The Bema Judgment is the judgment for believers, which is one of the first things that occur after we are raptured. My understanding is that it is where believers works/motives, etc. are judged and the Lord will dispense rewards, whatever those may be. Salvation is not an issue here, as only believers will be there. The issue is rewards for service, faithfulness. Some of us may lose rewards because our motives were not correct, but I don't see it as having any kind of condemnation or criticism.
The judgment that you don't want to be at, except maybe as an observer, is the Great White Throne Judgment. That's where the unbelievers will be judged on the basis of their works...that is, their fleshly works, works that they hope will make them acceptable to God. Of course, no ones works are sufficient to get them to Heaven, only Jesus. RJ.
I've heard it said that, many will feel sad because of the LACK of "things" to be able to lay at the feet of Jesus because of how we lived our lives. Tho' we may not have lived our lives according to God's Plan, we're still saved and will "enter in" to His rest. Yet, some things will be taken away from us because of such a life. Yet, even in that, there is still "no condemnation" in and from Jesus because of HOW we lived once saved. The ONE thing we will have to lay before Jesus at the judgment seat of the saved ones is, of course, ourselves. And, in some ways, as far as Jesus Christ is concerned, that's enough. What an awesome Savior and Lord He is!!!
One of the wonderful things about the Bible is that it records the failings of God's heroes as well as their triumphs. This isn't an excuse for failure or a loophole to exploit, it is meant as encouragement for us when we do stumble, and when the difficulties seem insurmountable.
The next time you feel like GOD can't use you, just remember.. Noah was a drunk, Abraham was too old, Isaac was a daydreamer, Jacob was a liar, Leah was ugly, Joseph was abused, Moses had a stuttering problem, Gideon was afraid, Samson had long hair and was a womanizer, Rahab was a prostitute, Jeremiah and Timothy were too young, David had an affair and was a murderer, Elijah was suicidal, Isaiah preached naked, Jonah ran from God, Naomi was a widow, Job went bankrupt, John the Baptist ate bugs, Peter denied Christ, The Disciples fell asleep while praying, Martha worried about everything, The Samaritan woman was divorced, Zaccheus was too small, Paul was too religious, Timothy had an ulcer...AND Lazarus was dead! No more excuses now. God can use you to your full potential. You aren't the message, you are just the messenger!
2 Cor 12:9
But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
