Not to make anyone upset.
But just wondering what others feel about Halloween in connection with being a christian?

Since I understand that it is derived of a Pagan Holiday, I dont celebrate it. But one must ask himself WWJD? Get some tracks and pass them out with some candy. :) Or leave it by your door with the lights on, and go find a church that has a Halloween alternative. (mostly for little kids), but they always need volunteers.
God Bless
9 We do what's Called A harvest festival, for the youth. They play games and win prizes mostly candy. We go until about 9:00pm so by that time most parents would not take their kids out. Most of our church consider it to be connected to the occult, including myself.
Thank You,

We are against acknowledging it, but this year I am getting some large pumpkins and in one carving a cross, in another, a dove, and in another "Jesus Loves You" and putting candles in them and out on the front walk. Should be interesting! I also have some of my $1M dollar bills remaining that I will hand out if I'm here (starting a part-time job Wednesday and it will be evenings, so we shall see!).
We always dress up, pass out candy, and take our daughter around the neighborhood to trick or treat. This year Mark and I are going as 60s Hippies and our daughter as a Bumble Bee.
I haven't cared for halloween since I became too old to beg for candy. Now that I'm a Christian and an old lady, I tend to think of it as an event that should not be condoned. What's the appeal of all the ghoulish stuff?? Can any of it possibly be smiled upon by our Lord?
I know. Radical opinion. ;)
I've got Jesus in my heart, and He has me in His.
Fortunately, we have to want to worship something before we are accounted as having done it. So a secular ritual is not itself a damning issue, it's what you believe and do about it that counts. If your kids or grandkids want to trick or treat, just let 'em know at one time, some people worshiped the bringer of death on this date and even prayed to satan to release the spirits of their loved ones.
"The fat lady is standing still. She's taken in a very deep breath. She's leaning forward just about to mouth the initial word..."
To me your opinion is correct, but I'm not out to upset anyone. Also I don't believe Jesus smiles on any of it. But I must say we did particepate in it when I was young, but don't tell anyone but that was along time ago as I'm now 59.
I don't have any young children around so it's easy for me to say I don't participate in it and I'll be praying for God's protection for those who do.

I agree with Adopted. and, Mik, I love your idea with the pumpkins!!! I will be doing that too!! Have any stencils you can send me by e-mail???
I will print up a little something of a tract that Jesus Loves them. I will also give out candy.
Amazing love! How can it be that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Shelle, no patterns or anything like that, just free-hand carving, though I will be copying the dove that Calvary Chapel uses. I want what is traditionally used to ward off evil and display Halloween spirit to show God's love. I think it will look cool--I'll post pictures when they're out!
When I was younger, I didn't see anything wrong with 'Halloween'.
I personally think in the older days that Halloween was soo innocent; however, now there's sooo much evil happening everywhere...
I like the 'suggestions' given about giving scriptures, carving pumpklins, and etc.
Kids don't 'trick or treat' around our sub division, but I don't see anything wrong with dressing up your young child to 'trick or treat' with those you know....
Bumble Bee is such a cute idea.....
I believe it's each individual person's belief, and if they are personally convicted.....
